A Reunion of Fate: From Homelessness to a Family Haven
Bo Lum is a 12-year-old black mixed-breed dog, resembling a mixed with a wolf-dog. Her tail is always tightly tucked between her hind legs, as if she has no tail at all. Why is that? It is because she is very scared. What is she afraid of? We don't know—whether it's her timid personality, the frightening experiences she faced while wandering, or the terrifying memories left by her previous owner or family.
The decision to adopt Bo Lum came after the passing of our 17-year-old black mixed-breed dog in November 2022. Life was difficult after she left us. About six months later, in August of last year, we felt ready to adopt an older mixed-breed dog. At that moment, social media seemed to hear our wishes and several reports of dogs available for adoption popped up. Among them, I saw a report about a "7-year-old black mixed-breed dog abandoned on the streets of Tsuen Wan." She had been wandering for over six months before being taken in by kind-hearted locals and placed in a temporary shelter.
On August 27, 2023, we met Bo Lum for the first time (her name at the time was "Black Girl"). She was extremely panicked, with all her fur shaved off except for her neck and head. From what we learned, her previous owner was an elderly person who rarely took her out, so she was very afraid of strangers. Additionally, due to her long time on the streets, her fur was dirty and matted and she had many lice and ticks, which led the volunteers to shave her. During our first meeting, there was no spark of instant connection but we didn't want to give up easily so we decided to visit her weekly to see if we were a good match.
However, just a few days later, on August 31, the weather forecast warned of a super typhoon, Saola, approaching Hong Kong! We were genuinely worried that this extremely timid dog wouldn't survive the storm. The sound of the strong winds hitting the metal roof would surely terrify her! Therefore, we rushed from Kowloon to the shelter to pick up this scared little dog around 6pm after work that day. As the sun was setting and darkness began to fall, our hearts were filled with light and hope because we knew that from this moment on, our worlds would be beautifully transformed!
In the car, she was both excited and scared. Perhaps she sensed that she was going to have a home, which made her excited but she was also unsure if this home would be safe, which frightened her. About an hour later, we finally arrived home. This scared little dog hid in the bathroom for a long time... then she fell asleep, sleeping soundly.
The next morning, we took her to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department to process the ownership transfer. That's when we learned she was actually born in 2012, making her 11 years old, not 7 as the volunteers had mentioned! However, don't worry! We had no intention of "returning" her. We just regretted that we would have four fewer years to spend with her and felt heartbroken that she had been abandoned after 11 years. Why would her previous owner be so cruel?!
Now, Bo Lum has been with us for a year and just celebrated her 12th birthday. However, she is still very timid. Every day, she only dares to stay in the same spots when going outside like peeing on the same manhole cover, pooping on the same roadside and looking out from the same spot (the building entrance). However, that's perfectly fine—what really matters is that she feels safe and at peace.
Campaign Statement
Hello everyone! Her name is Bo Lum. She is quite shy and not very vocal but she really wants to tell everyone how lucky she is to have met her new mom and dad last year, allowing her to escape the life of wandering on the streets, exposed to the sun, rain and living in fear. Mom and Dad treat Bo Lum very well, always accompanying her outside to familiarize her with the environment and giving her lots of delicious food. Although Bo Lum is now 12 years old, many people still say she is beautiful when they see her. We hope everyone can vote for Bo Lum, supporting her mom and dad as well as thanking them for their dedication and time!!
Origin: Stray Dog
Age: 13 years old
Gender: Female
Personality: Cheerful and lively, loves food and is polite to everyone and every animal. In her younger days, she enjoyed hiking and appreciating different sceneries. As she aged, her outings decreased and she now spends more time at home listening to music and enjoying massages, savouring a slow-paced life with Joey.
Hummer: A Lifelong Companion Continuing Great Love with His Owner
The saying goes "through hardship comes patience and from patience comes wisdom", which perfectly describes the lives of Hummer and her caregiver and friend, Joey, over the past decade.
Like many mixed-breed dogs in Hong Kong, Hummer's childhood was marked by a cycle of being adopted and abandoned. When Joey's beloved dog passed away suddenly, she decided not to adopt another. It pained her to see little Hummer living a transient life so with the determination of "If I don't clean up after you, who will?" she embraced the fluffy little creature and said, "We will live together from now on, okay?"
To become a better caregiver, Joey continually pursued education, learning about animal behaviour and dog care. Along the way, she made many friends and participated in community and volunteer services. Combining knowledge with love, they accumulated wisdom in their lives, resulting in a perfect partnership. They appeared on television and various film sets for dramas and commercials and together with social workers from Caritas and the Hong Kong Animal-Assisted Therapy Association, they visited elderly homes, special education schools and drug rehabilitation centres, demonstrating that while life may have its hardships, living kindly, sincerely and diligently can lead to a fulfilling journey with companions.
Time flies, both Hummer and Joey have now entered their later years. A year ago, to celebrate their bond, Joey collaborated with a local cartoonist to publish "Happiness: Losing at the Starting Line," documenting their life together. The work was also shortlisted for the 21st "Ten Great Reads" election, helping more secondary school students learn about animal-assisted therapy and the welfare of stray animals.
We hope more people can learn about the life story of Hummer and Joey!
Campaign Statement
Her name is Hummer, a smiling mixed-breed dog. She loves filming TV shows for the snacks but enjoys visiting care homes even more because of the love from children and the elderly. Her partner, Joey believes that all beings are equal and humans and animals are stardust. It's a rare fate for them to meet and accompany each other in such a small place like Hong Kong, transcending 14 billion years. As long as they serve and love each other, the world will naturally be at peace!! Wishing happiness and safety to all humans and strays.

A Hero from Despair to Sunshine
He is a stray born in a barren construction site, later renamed Sunny by his aunt. To survive, Sunny lived in fear every day, avoiding heavy vehicles and unfriendly humans. He fought fiercely with his companions just to survive and find a meal.
One day, Sunny was defeated. His eye was injured and a large chunk of flesh was bitten off his hindquarters, infested with thousands of maggots. Sunny knew death was near. Sunny didn't want to die. He had to be strong and rely on himself. From a distance, he saw his aunt leave a cage and mustered his last bit of strength to crawl inside, seeking help. In his haze, Sunny heard his aunt crying and the doctors said he wouldn't survive, suggesting she let him go. His aunt refused, quietly encouraging Sunny and promising to support him.
Fate could not crush Sunny. It only made him stronger. With courage, he overcame death, believing there is no predetermined end, only the process of not trying hard enough. In the end, Sunny fought to survive.
Physically and mentally recovering step by step, Sunny embarked on a journey to find a home. He got a chance to enter a house but things didn't go as hoped and he was returned. The timing wasn't right and he was still a wanderer.
Sunny and his aunt did not lose heart. They faced all difficulties together with pride. Sunny continues to live each day happily. Even in adversity, he never gives up, believing that the scars he bears will transform into sunlight illuminating his path—exactly what his name represents.

Continuators and Messengers of Love
Although Thousand Gold has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, her impact remains profound. On her first day out in the world, she was abandoned by a couple along with two other dogs at a pet store. The other two sisters were adopted but Thousand Gold was left without any inquiries. Just before being sent to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, she was adopted and renamed Thousand Gold.
Despite her body emitting a foul odor, having sparse fur, being infested with ear mites and having weak limbs, she required ongoing medication and rest. Thousand Gold was very strong and quickly learned to walk, run and go up and down stairs. She was smart and well-behaved, never causing any trouble. Even when her owner was ill, she stayed by their side, helping them recover both mentally and physically.
Thousand Gold's spirit deeply moved her owner, who continues to help other furry friends in her name, hoping to extend the love and happiness for Thousand Gold and benefit more animals. It is hoped that every animal can become the beloved child or young master in the hearts of every parent.
Campaign Statement
Thousand Gold's spirit touched her owner, who has since helped other furry friends in her name, hoping to extend the love and happiness she brought. This allows even more furry children and animals to benefit. May all animals be regarded as treasures and darlings in the hearts of every mom and dad.

Lak Lak's Journey to Find a Home: A Lively Puppy Regaining Confidence
Lak Lak was discovered by a volunteer during a visit to the dog shelter. The previous owner felt overwhelmed as Lak Lak grew larger and decided to abandon him at the shelter. The volunteer found this situation odd and inquired further, only to learn that the owner believed the shelter could take care of Lak Lak. However, everyone understood that animal protection regulations in Hong Kong have always been inadequate, and abandoned dogs often face euthanasia. Despite the volunteer's attempts to explain this to the previous owner, unfortunately, the owner remained adamant about abandoning Lak Lak.
On that day, the volunteer took Lak Lak in. As his owner left, Lak Lak could only smile foolishly, perhaps not realizing that he was being abandoned. Once at the dog shelter, Lak Lak seemed to finally realize that his owner would not return. At just a few months old, he was already experiencing so much, losing the natural affection he should have for humans. After some time at the temporary home, he became more accustomed to interacting with other dogs and his emotions stabilized significantly.
Eventually, after some time, Lak Lak reopened his heart and began to believe that there were still kind people in the world who would accept him as family.
Campaign Statement
In fact, Hong Kong is not very friendly towards dogs. I hope that humans can show more kindness and take an extra step to accept abandoned animals, allowing both humans and animals to coexist more beautifully in Hong Kong.
Marshmallow
Doggie 13 - The Transformation from Timidity to Confidence
Origin: Stray Dog from Fanling Scrap Yard
Age: 2.5 years old
Gender: Male
Personality: Shy, friendly with dogs but afraid of people. playful but not food-driven, kind and expressive.
The Transformation from Timidity to Confidence
Marshmallow, formerly known as No. 6, was born in a scrap yard in Fanling where large trucks passed by daily, creating a hazardous environment. Due to food shortages, he had to scavenge for food in garbage piles or wait for kind-hearted people to provide some. However, with a family of seven, the food was often insufficient. Eventually, a volunteer discovered them and saw how they had to catch mice to survive, worrying that they might get into traffic accidents if they ventured out so they rescued them.
Marshmallow and his brother were placed in the same temporary shelter but unfortunately, they were confined to one room and had no chance to see the outside world for several months. The brothers became sensitive, easily frightened by even the slightest noise and when taken outside, they would panic, tucking their tails and having accidents. As a result, the volunteers sent them to a training school to learn how to interact with other dogs and experience the world.
After a month of training, Marshmallow was sent to a comic shop to await adoption. However, the living environment was cramped and filled with other dogs, which caused Marshmallow, who was already timid, a lot of stress whenever someone entered the comic shop and the other dogs barked. Fortunately, he only had to wait for two months before finding a home.
Although Marshmallow found a new home, it took him nearly half a year to gradually adjust. Marshmallow no longer experienced diarrhea from going outside and to overcome his fear of running into the street when scared.
Campaign Statement
The black mixed-breed dog is quite unremarkable and not particularly appealing, naturally timid by nature. However, love can transform a dog, making them shine and attract attention. We hope that Marshmallow's experience shows that even timid and shy dogs can change because of love.

A Journey from Loneliness to Being Loved
In a warehouse filled with sand and stones, there was a dog named Wu Wu. Together with her sister, Fat Mei and several other companions, they took on the important responsibility of guarding the warehouse. Wu Wu's life was always mundane, sometimes eating dry food, sometimes leftovers from its owner and drinking from a barrel filled with mossy water.
Day after day, Wu Wu watched as her companions left one by one. Eventually, only she and Fat Mei remained together. However, fate was cruel. On August 15, 2023, Fat Mei passed away, leaving Wu Wu all alone. From then on, she bore the sole responsibility of guarding the warehouse.
A year passed, Wu Wu endured the scorching summer, frigid winter, torrential rains and even a once-in-500-years extreme weather event. Her fur became matted with sand and trash, accumulating nearly 3 kg of weight. This burden was slowly consuming her life.
As the warehouse was about to close, Wu Wu faced being sent to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. A group of compassionate individuals decided to launch a "Save Wu Wu" campaign. Despite Wu Wu's timid nature, her unfriendliness towards humans and her overwhelming matted fur but this group of people did not give up.
On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, they spent nearly three hours finally shaving off Wu Wu's heavy fur. Seeing her frail body with ribs clearly visible tugged at everyone's hearts. They then took Wu Wu to "Reginapaws". There, Wu Wu experienced the feeling of being loved for the first time. She had clean food and water, as well as a comfortable room with air conditioning. Surprisingly, the once timid Wu Wu began to approach Regina, the person caring for her, as if seeking human love and support.
Now, Wu Wu has shed her heavy burdens and is showing her kind and friendly nature once again, often displaying a sweet smile. Her weight is slowly increasing and her spirit is getting better and better. Wu Wu is now ready, waiting for a fateful encounter that will give her a loving home. Wu Wu's story reminds us that both warehouse dogs and stray dogs deserve love and care. They just lack the chance and opportunity.
Campaign Statement
Wu Wu, the once lonely warehouse dog burdened with heavy responsibilities, has finally shed her heavy past. However, her journey is not over yet. Wu Wu is now eagerly waiting for a loving family and home.
We believe that every dog deserves love and respect and Wu Wu is no exception. Her first half of life was deprived of the life she deserved, which can be seen as seven wasted years. But life offers a TAKE TWO.
We believe every dog should receive care and respect. Wu Wu's rebirth gives us hope and reminds us that her case is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more dogs like her that need our help. Every life is worth cherishing. We hope that those who are able can greatly assist animals in need.

In the world of dogs, every one needs a mentor and a friend, and that’s Money!
At 3 months old, Money was adopted from the SPCA and from that moment on, my world changed completely. With her, life was no longer just about going out, watching movies, singing karaoke and shopping. I wanted to participate in activities with her. The person who never cooked started to spend time in the kitchen for her and the one who never wanted to hike or swim began planning weekly outings.
After adopting Money, I started to meet other dogs and began fostering homeless dogs with independent volunteers. Money also took on an educational role. Whenever a new dog came into foster care, she would use her unique methods to teach them until they found a suitable home. Before I knew it, Money had been a mentor for over 10 years. During this time, she dedicated herself to helping each dog learn how to integrate into the human world and how to be a lovely dog.
This June, she turned 15 and without warning, she left for Dog Heaven. I am so grateful for the 15 years she spent with me, helping me through many ups and downs and assisting countless dogs in adapting to the human world. She truly was an angel for both humans and dogs. Although Money is no longer here, I know she wants me to continue working hard to help homeless dogs find suitable homes. I will keep doing my best. Don't worry, my dear Money.

I will do my best with all my heart. Please vote for Money!

The Transformation of the Watchdog: The Redemption of Ah Boy
A year ago, Ah Boy's original owner had to relocate due to land acquisition and since the new place didn't need a "watchdog," they decided to send Ah Boy to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD). Despite volunteers repeatedly expressing their willingness to take care of Ah Boy and pleading with the owner not to abandon him—because once he entered the AFCD, he would face the fate of being euthanized—the owner remained adamant.
In the end, we could only watch helplessly as Ah Boy was sent down the path to death. Fortunately, the volunteers did not give up. After relentless efforts, they successfully rescued Ah Boy from the AFCD 13 days later. Now, Ah Boy lives in a foster home, surrounded by love and he is finally beginning to emerge from the shadow of abandonment, rediscovering warmth and care.
Campaign Statement
Ah Boy is one of the lucky animals among many that were abandoned due to land acquisition but this is just the tip of the iceberg. As land acquisition projects continue to unfold in Hong Kong over the coming years, animal protection organizations will face greater challenges and pressures. I hope Ah Boy's story can inspire more people to pay attention to animal welfare, ensuring that every life is cherished and cared for. May more animals like Ah Boy be given a second chance of life.
Dau Dau
Doggie 9 - The Happy Little Warrior Reborn from the Cold
Origin: Brave Mum's Home For Stray Cats and Dogs
Age: 3 years old
Gender: Female
Personality: Quiet and cheerful. Loves to play with companions
From the Trash Room to a Loving Home
Dau Dau was abandoned in a garbage room in a tote bag during the cold weather warning in Hong Kong in 2021. It was extremely cold that day and she had to huddle with others for warmth. In their hunger and cold, they cried out, eventually attracting the attention of a kind passerby.
The kind person immediately notified Brave Mum who came to rescue them. At that time, they were less than two months old and very frightened. After staying at the shelter for a while, Dau Dau's two sisters were adopted by others. Dou Dou waited every day for an adopter to appear, but since he was the only one left, she would choose to reflect in solitude each time he felt disappointed, avoiding contact with the other dogs.
One day, a kind-hearted person who often visited the dogs at the shelter appeared. From her words, it was clear that she had been watching Dou Dou closely. At that moment, Dou Dou's caretaker dressed her in new clothes and prepared enough food to send her off to a new family. Although she felt a bit reluctant, she told Dou Dou that being adopted made her luckier than many other furry friends.
Dou Dou was very happy to join this new family, as there were many companions who cared for her deeply. Since the day she was adopted, the smile on Dou Dou's face has only grown.
Campaign Statement
Abandoning animals has always been a concern for everyone, yet it continues to happen. Dau Dau is a prime example, huddling with her sisters in a corner during the coldest weather, completely neglected. The rescuer, Brave Mum, was extremely angry because if no one had discovered them, there was a high chance they would have lost their lives.
Thanks to the help of kind-hearted people. They were successfully rescued but another pressing issue arose. They all needed homes. After repeated disappointments, Dau Dau no longer wanted to interact with people or other dogs, which broke Brave Mum's heart.
Fortunately, the appearance of a caring aunt allowed Dau Dau to see a glimmer of hope and come to an adoptive family. Her companions love Dau Dau dearly, making her feel cared for and she has become very cheerful. Happiness is that simple.
Hope every animal looking for a home can find one soon. Let's support Dau Dau and promote adoption, not abandonment!
Little Soldier
Doggie 8 - Army, the One Who Regained Freedom
Shelter: Brave Mum's Home For Stray Cats and Dogs
Age: 2 years old
Gender: Male
Personality: Like to be close to Brave Mum and play with other companions
Breaking Free from the Cage: The Brave New Life of Army
Once upon a time, there was a dog named Little Soldier that lived in a drug manufacturing facility. His "home" was a tiny cage, confining him to a life of isolation, never stepping outside.
One fateful night, everything changed. Little Soldier's owner faced legal consequences and suddenly, he became an orphan. Each day, he relied on the kindness of neighbours for food and support. Eventually, thanks to their help, Little Soldier found his way to a rescue shelter called the "Brave Mum's Home For Stray Cats and Dogs". Having witnessed his companions leaving one by one, Little Soldier felt as if he had transitioned from one hell to another, developing a strong distrust of humans.
However, upon arriving at the Brave Mum's family, Little Soldier discovered that life could be so much more beautiful! He could leave his cage to go outside, take baths and roam freely with many other furry friends. The kind caretaker arranged a series of health check-ups for him and for the first time, Little Soldier felt seen in the eyes of humans.
Now, Little Soldier's eyes are filled with gratitude for the caring Brave Mum who looks after him. Gradually, he is letting down his guard. Although he doesn't know what the future holds, he is incredibly happy to stay here and wait for a new owner.
Little Soldier is thankful to everyone who extended a helping hand to him. Their kindness has lifted him from hell to heaven! Through Little Soldier's story, we hope to raise awareness for stray animal rescues, encouraging support for more animals who share his plight. We also wish for the Brave Mum's family to receive love and support from the public.
Campaign Statement
We hope you will support Little Soldier. His story may represent just a small fraction of the voices that need to be heard but your kindness can truly change the trajectory of a life. Just like Little Soldier, who was able to escape his hell with human help, we want everyone to know that there is love and freedom in this world and every life deserves to be cherished.
Helping stray animals can be challenging, and we are incredibly grateful to Brave Mum for extending a helping hand to assist Little Soldier in overcoming his difficulties! Today, Little Soldier can start anew in this big family, all thanks to your kindness. Thank you so much! We hope that after hearing Little Soldier's story, you will consider supporting him!

Beacon of Hope During the Pandemic
During the pandemic, Leah's life changed drastically. Confined at home every day, she felt overwhelming anxiety and fear of the unknown future. As the days passed, feelings of loneliness wrapped around her, making it hard to sleep and often leaving her in a low mood.
In May 2022, Leah decided to visit a nearby pet store. She wanted some fresh air and hoped to find comfort among the small animals. As she entered the store, colourful, furry creatures greeted her, their joyful sounds seemed to chase away her gloom.
Her attention was captured by a lively Chihuahua, full of energy and curiosity. Leah was instantly drawn to its playful spirit.
Unable to resist, Leah interacted with the puppy which sniffed her hand and gently licked it. At that moment, Leah felt a long-lost joy. They started playing together and Naughty chased a ball, as if saying, "No matter what we face, we can overcome it together!"
The more time Leah spent with Naughty, the more her anxiety lessened. The puppy's positive energy and brave nature taught her that even in darkness, one can seek the light. Every morning, she took Naughty for walks, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air, gradually regaining her rhythm in life.
As time went on, Leah became more positive. Naughty became her companion and source of strength, infusing her life with renewed vitality. Leah finally realized that when facing challenges, we can always choose courage as every small life can bring hope.
Campaign Statement
In the shadow of the pandemic, we have all felt moments of loneliness and anxiety. However, Naughty, with its curiosity and bravery, has helped Leah rediscover her passion for life. It has taught Leah that no matter the difficulties we face, we can always find a glimmer of hope.

Fate of a Fateful Encounter: The Beloved Little Black Dog
About nine months ago, Blackie first met her owner, Yenme in the village. Despite her initial fears, Yenme bravely approached and petted her, believing she wasn't a stray. Yenme named her Blackie and she happily followed Yenme home.
Although Yenme wanted to bring Blackie home, her family was hesitant so Blackie left. Every Saturday, Yenme returned with treats and canned food for her. Whenever Yenme called, Blackie would appear, though sometimes she wouldn't. Yenme's family was touched by Blackie's presence and began to warm up to her.
They started giving her family food like pork and Yenme's dad began to bathe her while her mom bought flea treatment and groomed her. Their bond grew stronger.
Yenme initially thought Blackie had another owner. One day, her dad found Blackie sitting on a tricycle at a neighbour's house. Curiously, he asked the neighbour who revealed that Blackie was a stray factory dog named Fion. Blackie is about a year and a half old and has a good friend named BB, a yellow mixed-breed dog. When Blackie was around six months old, she started following BB to her aunt's house, waiting for food and helping to clean up the trash there every day. The cleaner also really cared for him, feeding her daily. As a result, the neighbour took care of Blackie every day, making sure she had her meals.
Before being abandoned, Blackie had been spayed but her stitches were never removed. The neighbour helped her with fly infestations and treated her injuries, including a broken front leg from being beaten.
Eventually, the neighbour suggested to Yenme, "Why don't you adopt her?" The neighbour wanted to keep Blackie but had several dogs that didn't accept her and feared for her safety. After a family meeting, Yenme's family decided to adopt Blackie.
Now in her new home, Blackie is well-behaved. She doesn't chew and misbehave and she gets along well with Aki. Yenme's family believes it's fate and a blessing for both sides.
Campaign Statement
Blackie is incredibly lovable and adored by everyone, like a little star in the village. Perhaps because of her past experiences, she cherishes every person she meets. She is understanding and has full trust in humans. Her eyes are special, as if they can speak. She wants everyone to know that mixed-breed dogs also deserve love and a home. Adopting a dog is a blessing for both the dog and the owner.

No Past, Only the Present and Future: The Lost Ten Years of a Dog's Life
He has no past, only the present and the future - Marty was abandoned by his previous owner and spent ten years in a dog shelter before being adopted by Mable two years ago. During this time, Mable lovingly helped him volunteer at a veterinary clinic and even joined the Animals Asia Foundation as a "Dog Doctor." Due to his excellent performance, he was promoted to "Dog Professor." Balancing three roles, he spreads the message of animal care, encouraging adoption over purchasing and wholeheartedly serves the community.
Campaign Statement
Encourage adoption over buying and care for animals.

Doggie 3 - The Resilient Journey of a Three-Legged Dog
Origin: Stray dog from a village
Age: 8 months old
Gender: Female
Personality: Cheerful, timid, easily bullied and kind-hearted
The Resilient Journey of a Three-Legged Dog
While returning home, my friend noticed a dog mother barking at him on a small slope. She pushed SnowB towards his feet as if asking for help. My friend discovered that the puppy was only one month old and could not move its front paw. After taking him back to the clinic, an X-ray revealed that both his elbow and shoulder were broken. Although SnowB continued to grow, the injured paw shrank. My friend quickly took SnowB for surgery and he eventually became a three-legged little fur baby. To help him adapt, everyone has been taking SnowB swimming.
Campaign Statement
We must support adoption and discourage abandonment. However, many people prefer to adopt healthy and cute pets, making it challenging for those with unappealing appearances or inherent defects to find homes. I want to emphasize that imperfect fur babies can bring just as much love and joy as any other pet as long as their owners treat them with care. They are very aware of how they are treated. While they may require more time and attention, you can give them a loving home.
We should cherish adoption chances. In the world of pets, you are their everything. May all furry babies receive the love and care they deserve.

Origin: Stray Dog
Age: 5 years old
Gender: Male
Personality: Polite and timid, enjoys watching cats and monkeys, loves visiting his dog friends and likes riding in cars.
Ambassador of Life-Changing Blood Donations
Someone posted online seeking help to find a home for two adult dogs. Since their original homes had too many cats, they could only be temporarily kept in a garden while waiting for adoption. During this time, while volunteers were looking for help, the dogs wandered into a neighbour's street. However, the neighbours didn't like them and called Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) to have them taken away. Another family, wanting to protect the dogs, took them out of the city and by coincidence, found temporary foster help.
Campaign Statement
To all the potential dog owners out there, if your pets are healthy, consider donating blood to stray dog organizations. When dogs are in urgent need of rescue, they may not always have blood plasma available and it can be quite valuable. Donating blood can give those furry friends a better chance at survival. Tung Tung has donated blood three times already. I hope more dog friends will join the cause and use love to change lives.

Chestnut was 13 and a half years old. He was born on December 3, 2009 and crossed the Rainbow Bridge on July 10, 2023. In July 2022, he was diagnosed with a malignant hemangiosarcoma. To help cover the medical expenses, Chestnut's mom started to make handmade fabric crafts. Although the initial products were unrefined, everyone supported her efforts.
On August 24, 2022, Chestnut underwent surgery to remove a malignant hemangioma. However, about three weeks later, the condition recurred. Despite this, the family never gave up and worked hard to ensure that Chestnut could enjoy each day. Later, the doctors informed them that Chestnut had only about three to six months left to live, so they began targeted therapy. Initially, the treatment showed some effectiveness, but by the seventh to eighth month, its effects began to wane and eventually became ineffective. The family sought different methods, including herbal remedies and traditional Chinese medicine, and consulted about the possibility of chemotherapy. However, they didn't want Chestnut to endure excessive suffering and ultimately decided against chemotherapy. The doctors informed them that Chestnut might only have two months left to live. Therefore, the family chose to continue administering traditional Chinese medicine, hoping to make him feel more comfortable.
On July 8, 2023, while Chestnut's mom was crafting, she had the opportunity to enter a dog clothing competition. Chestnut, being well-behaved and intelligent, participated and stood out among over 300 candidates, winning an 'Award of Excellence'.
Tragically, on July 10, 2023, Chestnut passed away due to a ruptured tumor. Our family was heartbroken but grateful for the time we had with him. Chestnut's 11 extra months filled our lives with love and joy, inspiring Mom to learn fabric crafting.
In his honour, we organized two "Fabric Blessing" events online, creating quilts during critical times to gather support and blessings for Chestnut. Though he is no longer with us, Chestnut's spirit and resilience continue to inspire many dog owners and their pets. They have joined the puppy scout that Chestnut helped create, spreading his love and spirit. Chestnut is the greatest achievement and pride of my life and his mom's.
Chestnut is the greatest achievement and source of pride for everyone in the Chestnut family, serving as a symbol of honor and inspiration. He is a strong and life-loving cancer warrior.
Campaign Statement
I want to share a message from the doctor with everyone: "Remember, your decision is the best decision." No matter how hard we try as pet owners, we often find ourselves doubting our choices. However life, both human and canine, belongs to us no matter how well we do, there will always be regrets. We continuously question ourselves, wondering if we are good enough.
Mother is great. No way to doubt that. Mother's love empowers us to face everything even when humanity feels so small. Chestnut held up both himself and your heart with his little body, so please, Chestnut's mom, don't cry for him anymore.
Throughout his life, Chestnut met many wonderful people and experienced extraordinary moments. Though his life was short, it was filled with joy and love and he tried many new things. Now that Chestnut has left us, his spirit remains forever. He is the leader of our scout troop and I hope everyone continues to uphold his values - do a good deed every day and live life to the fullest.
Grandma Fong
Angel 4 - Devoted to Protecting Our Furry Friends Until the Very Last Moment of Life
The Continuation of Love: Protecting Our Furry Friends for a Lifetime Until the Very Last Moment!
Grandma Fong, who sadly passed away from cancer this January, dedicated over 30 years of her life to caring for nearly a hundred abandoned and sick cats and dogs. Despite her own mobility challenges, she tirelessly pushed a cart for over 20 minutes each day to dispose of trash, ensuring her furry companions lived in a clean environment.
Grandma Fong's life relies entirely on public donations and supplies, barely managing to cover the daily expenses of her furry friends. She only finds a moment of respite when volunteers come in to help with cleaning or repairs. Often, she eats just one meal a day or a single piece of bread, even while she is unwell, as she is determined to save money to ensure that her furry friends are well-fed.
Grandma Fong is strong-willed; no matter how difficult life gets, she has never shed a tear—except when it comes to her furry friends. As she lay on her deathbed, she was deeply concerned about a dog named Nana in her care. Nana is timid, and Auntie Fang worried that after being adopted, she might not receive proper care and could struggle to adapt to a new environment, potentially going missing. Thinking of this brought tears to her eyes, and she earnestly instructed the volunteers to take good care of Nana.
After her passing, around 30 cats and dogs remain in the shelter, lovingly looked after by volunteers, fulfilling Grandma Fong's last wish. The animals, understanding and obedient, continue to thrive in the warmth of her legacy.
Campaign Statement
Grandma Fong devoted her life to her furry companions, sacrificing her family, career and health. Though her journey was tough, the joy on her face when the animals played with her was infectious and beyond words. She changed the fate of these animals with her love and life, embodying a spirit of sacrifice and selfless dedication that is truly admirable.
A devout believer, after her cancer diagnosis, she expressed to the volunteers her feelings of having truly given her all for the animals in her care. Perhaps no verse from the Bible better captures her sentiment than this: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7).
We are confident that Grandma Fong has safeguarded her beloved pets and we hope her spirit continues to inspire others. Please cast your vote for Grandma Fong!
Building a Warm Home for Our Furry Friends with Love
A few years ago, a dog shelter faced eviction due to land acquisition, leaving the dogs without support. Master Tung and his wife couldn't bear to watch them slowly perish, so he traversed 70% of the New Territories in Hong Kong and eventually found a remote piece of wasteland.
This site was ideal for rebuilding the shelter but it lacked water and electricity, making it seem like an impossible task to many. With the eviction deadline looming, Master acted quickly, pouring his savings into renting the land.
During the hottest months of the year, Master Tung worked tirelessly under the scorching sun, using discarded or donated building materials. With their skilled hands, the couple built "CK8 Adoption" in just two months, providing a refuge for homeless animals.
Their determination inspired many compassionate individuals, even those they had never met, to support their efforts. Master and his wife believe that unwavering commitment is not just a slogan, it means genuinely caring for each animal with different needs and providing them with a safe haven.
To date, "CK8 Adoption" has taken in and cared for over a hundred animals, including a rescued mother dog who had just given birth. After her puppies were weaned, volunteers helped find them loving homes and arranged for the mother to be spayed. For elderly, injured, or terminally ill dogs needing special care, Master and his wife feed them, help them relieve themselves, administer fluids and clean their wounds. The couple dedicates themselves to caring for these animals, accompanying them through recovery or to the end of their lives, ensuring that even in their brief time on earth, they feel love, receive proper care and are treated with respect.
Campaign Statement
The birth of "CK8 Adoption" was inspired by Master Tung and his wife's love and fond memories of their late loyal dog, "Ah Ba." They decided to dedicate their lives to protecting Ah Ba's kind, naming the shelter in his honour. This refuge provides a safe haven for abandoned or stray animals, recognizing that being lost or abandoned is not a choice for these creatures. With great love, Master Tung and his wife are willing to undertake what others might see as small acts, creating a home for stray animals and allowing Ah Ba's legacy to continue in a different form.
Ada
Angel 2 - Independent Volunteer of 'Hong Kong Western Cats'
Changing the lives of strays with love and action, encouraging everyone to do good!
Ada, an Independent volunteer, has dedicated the last 10 years to caring for stray cats, consistently braving the elements to feed them. She single-handedly manages rescues, feeding, delivering puppies, treating illnesses and assisting with adoptions. Ada often takes the initiative to help community shop cats, encouraging and assisting with their spaying. Over the years, she has organized community events to engage more compassionate individuals in helping cats and has even established a Facebook page "HKWESTERNCATS" to continue spreading her message.
There are times when she feels weak. She has cried when injured but her maternal instinct drives her to stay strong. After resting, she faces all challenges with renewed determination. On her Facebook page, she shares many uplifting stories about her experiences with cats, allowing everyone to see her kindness and positive energy. Her page has transformed into a community, spreading to other regions of Hong Kong and Taiwan. People encourage each other and support her and the stray cats, fostering an environment free of negativity and conflict, all inspired by Ada.
Many strangers who have never met her have written posts about how Ada has taught and helped them find their own cats, empathetically encouraging them to adopt strays and patiently teaching them how to care for community cats.
Compared to some great volunteers, Ada may not seem to do as much but I am deeply moved by her grounded nature and her willingness to quietly give of herself. Ada not only assists cats but also supports people, empowering everyone to make a positive impact. This embodies the heartfelt, uplifting spirit of a volunteer that we all aspire to emulate.
Campaign Statement
Ada has successfully been approved for "Kakato Animal Food Bank—project of an Independent Volunteer" and was recently featured in a television program about cats, sharing her story so that everyone can watch it. Carolyn Siu
Angel 1 - An Independent Volunteer Who Impacts Lives with Their Own Life
An Independent Volunteer Who Impacts Lives with Their Own Life
Carolyn Siu may seem like an ordinary independent volunteer but she has a touching and inspiring story. Everyone knows the saying, "Love can end homelessness. Make a difference by impacting the lives of others. However, it's important to understand the level of giving, sacrifice, and endurance required to influence those around us. We must help more people realize that anyone can become a rescue volunteer."
Carolyn established a Facebook page called "Golden's Love for All" representing the value of every rescued life, emphasizing that every moment counts when it comes to saving lives. The first animal she rescued was named "Thousand Gold"
While studying at university in the US, Carolyn was already involved in rescuing animals. Over the years, she accumulated a wealth of experience in dealing with stray animals and learned a lot about them. Later, she pursued veterinary studies to deepen her ability to help more animals. After returning to Hong Kong, Carolyn continued her rescue work. As a new volunteer, she faced countless difficulties and setbacks including funding issues.
Every time she rescued an animal, she had to pay for their medical care and food out of her own savings, without sponsorship or donations. During this time, she also faced online bullying, which led to her developing emotional health issues that required regular check-ups and long-term medication. After falling ill, things worsened as those around her. Her family did not understand her struggles and advised her to give up her rescue work. However, Carolyn Siu did not give up. With the support of her Facebook followers, who witnessed her sacrifice of personal time and rest for animal rescue, she inspired many. Her actions encouraged more people to become adopters and volunteers, contributing to the rescue efforts.
Carolyn embodies the idea of using one's life to impact others. She participates in seminars organized by other institutions, spreading the good values and educating the next generation to help stray animals.
Campaign Statement
Being an independent volunteer is not an easy job. You may not receive any help and face various types of problems that can leave you physically and mentally exhausted. The motivation to persist comes from witnessing each animal find a new home and be able to enjoy their happiness. The photos and interactive videos sent back by adopters are Carolyn's continuous motivation. Carolyn says, "We may not be able to participate in a stray's early life but we hope to be part of their later life. We wish for every encounter to be a happy one." Please cast your vote for Carolyn Siu so she knows that we are always here to support her on her rescue journey as well as continue helping more strays!
Regina Lee
Angel 5 - Principal of the 'Reginapaws' Cat and Dog Boarding School
A transition center for stray cats and dogs, selling properties and taxi licenses, rents a 16,000 square foot village house to temporarily care for 30 elderly and sick cats and dogs, helping them find adoptive families.
After stray cats and dogs are rescued, where do they go before being adopted? It turns out that there are indeed people who run interim shelters for these animals, allowing them to wait safely for suitable adopters. Regina's presence has changed the fate of many stray cats and dogs.
Regina, the temporary caregiver, was originally a bank employee but resigned due to pancreatitis and diabetes, and now her kidney function is only at 70%. Initially, she only adopted stray cats, but after encountering her first stray dog ten years ago, she began her journey as a temporary caregiver, founding an organization called "Reginapaws", her husband Ah Wai, and their daughter originally lived in a 300 square feet apartment in Tsuen Wan, but as the number of animals they cared for increased, they sold their apartment and moved to a village house in Kam Sheung Road. Eventually, they decided to rent two houses totaling 16,000 square feet in Yuen Long, complete with an outdoor garden, air-conditioned rooms, a cat room, adoption area, and isolation room, capable of housing over 30 cats and dogs. Four years ago, due to financial difficulties, they started charging a basic accommodation fee, and Ah Wai even sold his taxi license to fully assist with the caregiving work.
To become a transition center for stray cats and dogs, having nursing knowledge is crucial. Many stray dogs are injured or ill from prolonged exposure to the outdoors. Regina has cared for dogs with broken limbs, wounds infested with maggots, and infections like tick-borne fever and heartworm. She not only helps these dogs recover but also teaches them good behavior and etiquette before finding them suitable adopters. For those dogs that cannot be adopted, Regina promises to care for them until the end of their lives.
As a temporary caregiver, transforming cats and dogs from being scarred to becoming lovable pets for others to adopt raises the question: "Don't you feel reluctant to let them go?" Without hesitation, she replies, "Not at all. This is the time they need help the most. My ultimate goal is for them to have a home. Space is limited in Hong Kong; if I can't let go of each one, the dogs outside will have no one to help them."
Regina has established a partnership with a university in Hong Kong, allowing students studying pet care and animal-assisted therapy to intern at "Reginapaws" They not only participate in the daily care of stray animals but also gain insight into their needs and behaviors. These valuable experiences teach students how to treat animals with love and responsibility, fostering a profound understanding of animal welfare. Through the internship, students can combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience, becoming capable and compassionate animal care professionals in the future.
She is Regina, the principal of the Cat and Dog Boarding School.
Campaign Statement
Support stray animals and ensure that every stray receives love and respect! Choose adoption, reject abandonment, and let’s work together to create a harmonious society for both humans and pets. Every life deserves a warm home; let kindness become our shared belief!
The Empress
Kitten 13 - A Shining Example in the Midst of Suffering
Origin: Stray Cat
Age: 15 years old
Gender: Female
Personality: Determined, resilient, independent, and optimistic about fate, yet also stubborn with a bit of a temper. Enjoys food, loves being scratched, and spending time with the owner.
The Empress's Resilience: From Stray to Eternal Love and Hope
Even though her body was as weak as paper, the Empress's spirit remained as strong as iron. Who could imagine that a cat suffering from feline AIDS, feline calicivirus, herpes virus, and severe oral ulcers could wander alone for over ten years?
In December 2023, the hungry Empress was injured by an electric gate while searching for food, bleeding from her mouth. Concerned that she would continue to wander and suffer the same fate, a kind-hearted cat feeder became the perfect adopter for this cat, who was already over a decade old. Once she entered her new home, the Empress gradually transformed from fierce to gentle, going from avoiding contact to actively seeking affection and petting. However, despite numerous vet visits and trying every available medication, her oral ulcers never improved, and she continued to test positive for feline AIDS, calicivirus, and herpes virus. Every time she ate, the Empress would cry out in pain, yet she still made the effort to eat because she truly loved food, yearning to live despite the pain.
In May 2024, a nasal tumor was discovered. Due to her feline AIDS, chemotherapy was not an option, and she could only receive palliative care. The tumor caused her to have a runny nose and breathing difficulties, forcing her to breathe through her mouth. The mucus backflow also blocked her throat, making it impossible for her to swallow food. Her owner took her to the clinic to have an esophageal feeding tube inserted, and she was very cooperative, sitting patiently and waiting quietly during each feeding.
In July 2024, while the vet was cleaning her nose, her heart rate and breathing suddenly stopped. However, with her astonishing willpower, she successfully returned to her owner even after stepping into the realm of death. In the following days, the Empress had to breathe through her mouth, inhaling large amounts of air which caused her abdomen to swell like a balloon, leading to extreme discomfort as the trapped air obstructed her stomach and intestines. Despite her deteriorating condition, the Empress's determined, bright, and hopeful eyes, along with her iron will to survive, remained unchanged.
By August 2024, the Empress finally graduated from her struggles, no longer feeling physical pain, and her spirit will forever endure.
Campaign Statement
Do you think the Empress is very pitiable? Actually, the Empress doesn’t feel sorry for herself; instead, she considers herself very lucky because she lives happily with her owner! Although she wandered for over ten years, suffering from stomatitis, and for the last two months endured breathing difficulties due to a nasal tumor, her owner never gave up on her, and she never gave up on life.
Yes, the Empress experienced daily pain in her mouth and struggled to breathe, but what are these difficulties compared to what she faced while wandering the streets and the agony of being caught in an electric gate, which left her bleeding?
Although the Empress's physical form has departed, she no longer feels pain and enjoys true freedom! While her owner can no longer see her, she continues to be by their side every day.
It is truly remarkable and something to be proud of that the Empress was able to hold on until the very last moment. I hope everyone can cast a vote for the Empress!
Silly 9
Kitten 7 - Fortunately, while wandering the streets, met a caring owner.
Origin: Stray Cat
Age: 3 years old
Gender: Male
Personality: Timid but very well-behaved
Wandering the Streets, Happily Meeting the Current Owner, and Being Cared for During Illness
One night, the owner encountered a very thin stray cat wandering alone on the street, with no one else around. The stray had a collar, leading to the suspicion that it was a lost cat. Concerned for its safety, the owner struggled to bring it back to the office. Later, they discovered that the cat was bleeding from its lower body. The next day, they took it to the vet who said there were external injuries, likely caused by a hard object.
The stray was scanned but had no microchip. The vet informed them that the surgery would cost around HKD 50,000 and it would require long-term wound care and anti-inflammatory medication. After about three to four months of recovery, the cat finally got better.
Campaign Statement
Thanks to the person (who is now my owner) for not just passing by that day. Silly is 9 now and has a stable home. Don't just pass by— cast your vote for Silly 9!
Donut
Kitten 6 - Abandoned in Childhood Due to Illness, Now a Lively Cutie After Being Rescued by Kind People!
Shelter: HK Cats Adoption
Age: 1 year old
Gender: Female
Personality: Lively, active and playful
Abandoned Due to Illness, Fortunate to Meet Kind People
When Donut was three months old, she was abandoned due to suffering from ringworm and cat flu. Since she was very young when she fell ill, volunteers spent a lot of time nursing her back to health. She was on medication for nearly six months before finally recovering. After that, she has been perfectly healthy. We are so happy that she has become a part of our family!
Donut's most attractive feature is her super thick fluffy tail. She is usually very affectionate, not only seeking out pets but also playfully demanding attention from her "slaves". Her personality is definitely a perfect 100!
Campaign Statement
Although Donut was weak and sickly as a kitten, taking a lot of medicine and frequently falling ill, she has finally recovered and found a wonderful home. Her dad and mom have also donated money and various supplies to different organizations that help cats. We hope everyone can vote for Donut! She and her sister Jennie will continue to contribute to society, promoting the message of adoption and helping those cats without a family!
Little Boss Girl
Kitten 5 - Struggling to Survive at the Dam, Gentle and Brave
Origin: Independent Volunteer (Ho Chung Yin)
Age: 8 years old
Gender: Female
Personality: Strong, brave and well-behaved
The Tragic Struggle of the Dam Cat
A few years ago, an old fisherman witnessed a cat being thrown into the sea. Fortunately, there was a dam in the ocean and the cat used all her strength to swim to the dam. After that, no one knew whether she lived or died. It wasn't until the end of last year that the fisherman discovered his existence. Miraculously, the cat had survived, having been trapped on the dam in the sea for several years, with no food because no one could reach her—only the fisherman's boats could get there.
The cat had to catch fish and on dry days, she could only drink seawater. During storms, seawater washed over the dam and at night, it was pitch black, leaving her alone and helpless! The fears she endured were unimaginable but she never gave up on herself and fought for survival, demonstrating incredible survival instincts.
When the volunteers learned of this incident, they did their utmost to help her. The dam was about 400 meters long, covered in rugged rocks. Heaven had mercy on the cat's plight and during the fourth rescue attempt, they finally saved her. When they rescued her, another miracle occurred. Despite having been harmed in the past and not having had contact with humans for years, she turned out to be incredibly well-behaved!
Every time I think of his experience, I am deeply moved. She was renamed Little Boss Girl (Siu Baa Mui) and received attentive care in a temporary foster home. Once everything was arranged, a forever family appeared and Little Boss Girl finally found a happy home! I am truly grateful.
Campaign Statement
With her strong will power, Little Boss Girl survived for years without anyone to help her. She was trapped on the dam in the vast ocean. Yet, she miraculously lived on. She endured all the pain and hardships, weathering every storm and finally has her own happy home. This little life shines with incredible brilliance! Every volunteer will remember her tragic struggle. Little Boss Girl, I sincerely wish you all the best!
#Please support adoption instead of purchasing.
Origin: A Stray Cat from a Dormitory
Age: Approximately 3 years old
Gender: Male
Personality: Afraid of strangers (but if interacted with regularly, he becomes less fearful). Loves catnip and enjoys dried duck treats.
Every stray cat deserves to be loved: Lucky will definitely be lucky!
Thank you, Lucky for trusting your owner. Initially, Lucky was afraid that people would hurt him and wouldn't approach his owner. Now, he trusts his owner just like any typical cat, being affectionate and playful, knowing that no one will hurt him again.
Campaign Statement
I hope to help Lucky and other stray cats benefit from this incident. The owner will donate half of the proceeds to animals' organizations to support the daily expenses of cats.
Cha Cha
Kitten 3 - Positive and Optimistic, Completing Our Imperfections
Origin: Home Breeding Shop
Age: 3 years old
Gender: Male
Personality: Introverted, timid, socially anxious, loves to nap, watch TV, catch the news and watch horse racing.
Optimistic Cha Cha - Learning to Embrace an Imperfect Self
Through a friend's introduction, Pinky went to a home breeding shop to look at cats and Cha Cha was the only one in the litter that nobody chose. Even when the shopkeeper kept lowering the price, saying it was a great deal, nobody wanted him. The reason was simply because Cha Cha's coat didn't look purebred.
Once at home, he was incredibly well-behaved. At that time, his owner Pinky was in a poor mental state and would often yell at him loudly, which frightened him and made him have soft stools. Even so, he never caused any trouble, he would wait for family members to wake up to help clean up after him.
Around the end of 2022, Cha Cha developed a fever and went to the vet where he was diagnosed with cat flu. During this visit, Pinky also discovered that Cha Cha was born with a heart valve issue (essentially, he has a heart condition). From that day on, Cha Cha had to take medication every day. However, Cha Cha was so good that he would know when it was time for his medicine and he would remind Pinky to feed him his medication.
Since then, Pinky has also been affected by Cha Cha. Her mood gradually improved. Sometimes, looking at him felt like looking at a younger version of herself. Of course, Cha Cha is much more obedient and clever than Pinky. In fact, whether it's cats or dogs, any fur baby that appears before humans does so for a reason—they fill and satisfy the parts of us that are still imperfect.
Campaign Statement
Cha Cha just wants to see Mom happy. Mom admits that work is tough but only by working can she earn money to buy canned food. Cha Cha also wants to contribute to this family—after all, his name is big brother Cha! Please vote for Cha Cha!
Fo Fo
Kitten 2 - Struggling to survive in the midst of a fire, refusing to give up despite illness.
Shelter: Love Cats Everyday
Age: 10 years old
Gender: Male
Personality: Enjoys chatting with people, is affectionate and sensible even when needing two injections a day. He does not resist.
After being abandoned, Fo Fo experienced a fire at a building, struggling to survive before finally encountering a good cat shelter that took her in for recovery.
Fo Fo is estimated to be nearly 10 years old. In April 2024, he was discovered at a third-level fire scene in the Wah Fung Building, Jordan by the fire department. Covered in mud and very hungry, likely having gone without food for some time.
Afterwards, Fo Fo was temporarily fostered to recover for a while. During this time, we noticed he had a high urine output and was often hungry, so we took him to the vet for a detailed examination, including blood tests and X-rays. The diagnosis revealed that he has diabetes, requiring daily insulin injections and a prescription diet—diabetic food.
For the past few months, Fo Fo has been living in a cat shelter, where a lady who used to feed him came to visit. She informed us that his owner had abandoned him on the back stairs for six months after immigrating to another country.
Initially, Fo Fo was very scared and showed hostility towards strangers but once he realized there were people feeding him delicious food every day, he began to change.
He worked hard to live in the back staircase and even became an expert at catching mice, which the cleaning ladies appreciated.
A major fire led him to live in the cat shelter, which houses about 100 cats. Among them, two cats, including Fo Fo, are not accepting adoption applications. Due to his long-term illness requiring daily insulin injections and his older age, the chances of finding an adopter are extremely slim!
Campaign Statement
I am honored to have the opportunity to nominate this elderly cat for participation. Although his story is not particularly dramatic, he perseveres every day to survive, proving that age does not equate to uselessness.
Through his story, I hope to teach children and teenagers the importance of cherishing life and caring for the elderly. I hope all strays can find a safe and loving home and even if their past experiences were tough, persistence will lead to positive outcomes.
Origin: Adoption Center - Lung Kwu Tan Paws Care Group
Age: 1.5 years old
Gender: Female
Personality: Loves to lick people, enjoys having her belly rubbed by her owner.
GAGA's Journey of Rebirth: From Homelessness to a Happy Home
This cat is named GAGA because Daddy wanted to give her a home ("Ga" in Chinese is home.) so he chose the name GAGA (which is really quite cheesy, haha).
On August 11, 2023, 7am, a neighbour discovered GAGA walking by the roadside on Kam Po Road in Yuen Long and immediately called the volunteers to rescue her. After the volunteers rescued GAGA, they took her to the vet, where it was found that her fur was matted. She smelled of urine and her left eye was injured and also had ringworm and peritonitis.
Later, the volunteers gave GAGA many injections and she gradually recovered. Once GAGA's condition was stabilized, the volunteer's sister prepared to help find her a home, which is when GAGA met her current Daddy.
From the first moment Daddy saw GAGA, he was captivated by her. After returning home, GAGA was very cooperative and became good friends with the other cats.
However, GAGA's health was still relatively weak and she had long-term respiratory issues, however her owner has been slowly helping her improve her health and now GAGA has become plump and healthy, hoping to continue growing strong.
Campaign Statement
Hello everyone! GAGA is a little one abandoned by a breeding farm. On that day, she was suffering from illness and was dirty, wandering by the roadside when the volunteer rescued her. It took quite some time for her to gradually recover.
GAGA was once a stray and is not perfect but that doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to be loved. I hope all strays can find a safe and loving home and no matter how tough their past experiences are, perseverance will lead to a good outcome.
7 Chai
Kitten 18 - A Love That Supports Each Other, Overcoming All Challenges
Shelter: Hong Kong Saving Cat and Dog Association
Age: 6 years old
Gender: Male
Personality: From being fierce and grumpy to wanting to be held every day. If not held, he will punch and kick. He is a big eater and the vet describes him as a muscular guy.
The Struggle of 7 Chai: A Healing Angel in the Fight for Life
The day 7 Chai walked into my life was the 12th day after my mother passed away.
The doctor said that the fierce and emaciated 7 Chai was not suitable for adoption and wouldn't live long, recommending euthanasia. I stubbornly insisted on taking 7 Chai home, settling him in and training him, even if he only had a little time left on this earth.
On the 343rd day of knowing 7 Chai, I received terrible news. I spent a year bringing him back from peritonitis. On the 986th day, heaven dealt me another heavy blow. This time it came more fiercely and urgently. Feline AIDS and feline leukemia - the fears I had always tried to avoid finally caught up with us.
Countless times of colds, bleeding from the head, vomiting blood from his mouth and nose, oral ulcers, rotten paws, rotten face and chin and even deadly peritonitis... 7 Chai overcame one hurdle after another. I couldn't understand why life kept testing him. Even the doctor asked how it seemed like he had been through every illness imaginable but he thanked me for my efforts.Despite all this, I never grew tired of the struggles 7 Chai brought me. We rushed to the hospital together.
In the 1102 days we shared, thank you, 7 Chai, for accompanying me through the lowest points of my life. No matter how difficult the days were, you supported me and I supported you. I learned to be strong and brave for you and you fought one last beautiful battle for me. Thank you, 7 Chai, for teaching me that ordinary people like me can do our part for stray cats.
I want to tell the world - you were once here and you had lived your life to the fullest.
Campaign Statement
Life and death—how many lessons have we learnt? I hope that those moments of sorrow can transform into strength, allowing us to learn to bear the responsibilities of life.
Finally, I dedicate this article to all life warriors. In the face of the pain for parting, your love for those you cherish proves your deep feelings for the departed. However, in life, we cannot escape death. Death makes life finite and accepting death teaches us to take on the responsibilities of life. The most important lesson in life is to truly love someone, which means to live each day to the fullest.

From Loneliness to a Warm Home
Chance Encounter
One evening, an aunt (currently his owner) stumbled upon a stray yellow cat and immediately went inside to get some canned food for him. Soon after, another aunt from the neighborhood noticed that the cat seemed to have oral inflammation so she contacted Kent from the HK Paws Guardian to arrange for the yellow cat to be captured for treatment. The yellow cat ended up staying in the clinic for two months!
The Capture of the Yellow Cat
The yellow cat must have had a tough life as a stray. He was thin and extremely timid. He had never gotten close to the aunt who fed him, only daring to wait by the door every night, calling for food. He was very wary of anyone and anything and even with delicious food in the trap, he wouldn't go in, leaving the aunts anxious. They could only softly say to the yellow cat hiding nearby, "If you want my help, please go into the cage!" Before long, he did indeed enter the cage and the aunts were overjoyed, shouting in excitement—this happiness was a hundred times greater than winning the lottery!
Post-Hospitalization Arrangement
Due to his timidity, the yellow cat was fearful and aggressive in the veterinary clinic, making it a daunting task to find him a new home. Additionally, his illness had not fully healed, requiring medication and injections. Fortunately, the aunt who had been feeding him temporarily fostered and cared for him, even while recovering from major surgery on her lumbar spine.
A New Home
Before his discharge, a retired elderly person had expressed willingness to adopt the yellow cat. Unfortunately, they lost contact during the temporary foster period! The aunt, not wanting him to wander again, decided to adopt him and renamed him Ping On, symbolizing his future - a safe, healthy and happy life!
The neighbour's aunt, who was concerned about the yellow cat, also contributed financially and provided supplies, medication and support for Ping On's needs!
Now living a new life, Ping On has not only family aunts but also cat's brothers and sisters to live with.
Campaign Statement
The cat's name is Ping On. He is shy and timid. However, he is now happily living with his brother and little sister. Thanks to the care of the aunts. I hope everyone can vote for Ping On and her aunts!

The Story of Stan: From Stray to Guardian of Love
Stan was originally a stray. I heard that an aunt took him to live on the rooftop. One day, he accidentally cut his tail and since the aunt didn't notice his injury. It became serious and even attracted maggots. The aunt then sought help from the Hong Kong Paws Guardian.
Hong Kong Paws Guardian sent Stan to the clinic for treatment where he stayed for nearly nine months. After undergoing several skin graft surgeries and having his tail amputated, he was saved. During his stay, Stan met a caring and straightforward little girl who is now his owner's sister. As the little girl often took care of Stan, they gradually built a bond. Stan's cleverness and slightly humorous personality led the little girl to request to adopt him from the Hong Kong Paws Guardian.
After successfully adopting him, the little girl even brought Stan home the day before her birthday. Before they knew it, several years had passed but a tragic accident due to human negligence befell the little girl, leading to her untimely passing and leaving Stan without his owner.
The little girl's family could only channel their longing into love for Stan, treating him like a precious gem no matter how difficult their circumstances became. Stan's ability to live in the moment has also helped his family cope with their grief.

Hello everyone! This is Shidan. Although his hairstyle is a bit unruly, his gaze is a little sharp and the mark on his nose is somewhat charming. He responds politely (loudly and vigorously) when humans talk to him, proving that he is a sensible cat deserving of your sacred vote. Meow~~~~!

Kitten 15 - Demonstrating Hope for Life Through Perseverance

Personality: Loves to eat, play and jump. Loves cats and humans. Enjoys being petted on the face and belly.
Guai Guai who received antibiotic injections for 23 consecutive days (a total of 68 doses)
Guai Guai (Escher) is about four years old and in his prime but he has endured unimaginable pain. Guai Guai was abandoned a year ago and taken to an adoption centre where the volunteers were shocked by his condition! Guai Guai is a male cat but his penis had been surgically removed and the wound had not healed, showing raw flesh with (pus) that had a dark yellow color and a foul smell. He was in such a terrible state that he smelled of urine all over. The volunteers learned that Guai Guai had been bitten by a dog and had even developed maggots in his wound which worsened the condition. After surgery, the wound could not heal and due to severe inflammation of the urethra, he lost control of his bladder and bowels, leading to his placement in the adoption centre and then a temporary foster home.
At the beginning, Guai Guai was in pain, weak and unwilling to eat, hanging by a thread. Yet, he still made an effort to interact with the volunteers. Even during the first few days when he had to receive three antibiotic injections a day, he cooperated like a "good boy," showing us that he did not want to give up. The temporary foster volunteer administered antibiotic injections to Guai Guai daily and after a full 23 days, he finally recovered! However, Guai Guai experienced recurrent urinary tract infections afterwards, causing him to be in such pain that he wouldn't eat or drink and even requiring a few nights in the hospital. Fortunately, he recovered quickly. There was also an occasion where the exit of his urethra had raw flesh, necessitating hospitalization and the insertion of a catheter for urination, allowing the wound to have a chance to heal. Due to his incontinence issues, the volunteers also diligently cleaned Guai Guai daily and changed his urine pads, hoping to make him more comfortable.
Despite all this, Guai Guai is a very well-behaved pet (truly a fitting name). He loves to interact with people and often jumps onto the volunteers' laps, rolls over to be petted and meows for attention. With a cheerful attitude, he has been striving to live, hoping to find a home of his own. Just before the nomination deadline, Guai Guai was adopted! This is truly encouraging news for the volunteers.
Campaign Statement
Despite enduring such great suffering, Guai Guai remains passionate about life. His experience has not hindered his trust in humans and his physical defects and pain have not caused him to lose hope. He bravely and positively faces each day, overcoming challenge after challenge, firmly believing that one day he will have a home of his own.
Through this nomination, Guai Guai hopes to convey a message - even if a pet has physical defects or is old and sick, they still deserve to live in love. Taking care of him requires extra patience, time and even money and there may be adjustments needed in life but he, like other cats, is deserving of love.
I wish everyone could live with hope like Guai Guai. Thank you for voting for Guai Guai!
Origin: Adoption Volunteer : Siu Wing Yin (Ah Chi) "Golden's Love for all"
Age: 1.5 years
Gender: Male
Personality: Super scared of people. Loves to eat but won't eat in front of people so even if you feed him, he won't eat in front of you. He has a strong personality.
The Transformation of Bobo: A Journey from Fear to Happiness
This is my family's first adoption. I had watched cat videos for a few years and finally, my mom agreed to adopt it. The opportunity came through Siu Wing-yin's group "Golden's Love for all" She is very caring and has many cats that people don't want. She also pays a lot of money out of her own pocket for their medical care. When one of the volunteers handed over a cat to me, they were crying.
This cat was previously neglected by its owner so it was not well taken care of. When it first arrived at my home, it was very scared. However, "Ah Chi" and the group taught me a lot, making me realize that there are still many good people in the world.
Campaign Statement
Perhaps its previous owner was not kind to him, which caused it to be so fearful that it won't allow me to touch it. At first, my mom didn't like it either but slowly, my mom was touched by this cat. In the morning and at night, he meows, bringing joy to my mom and the workers.
Although it is still very scared of me, I believe as long as the cat is healthy, eats well and plays (there's a photo of it looking chubby, unable to fit under the cabinet and at night it runs around the house). I am happy for the cat.
He has taught me what love is. The cat may not love me in the way I expect but I know that as long as it is happy, that's enough.
Little Dragon
Kitten 12 - Bravely Reborn: A Life Impacting Life
Origin: Stray Cats
Age: 13 months
Gender: Male
Personality: Lively, playful, friendly to people and cats.
Bravely Reborn: A Miracle of Life Impacting Life
At three months old, Little Dragon got separated from his mother and wandered the streets alone. One day, a car came racing towards him and after a loud bang, he realized he couldn't run because his hind legs were paralyzed! Someone picked him up but scared, he bit them and ran into a narrow drain, feeling panicked, lost and in pain.
Later, people discussed how to rescue him. After a while, they managed to rescue him and took him to the hospital. The doctor and volunteers said his spine was broken and he needed immediate surgery. However, the success rate was very low and given his young age, it was uncertain if he would wake up after anesthesia. Even after surgery, he might be paralyzed for life and have no control over his bladder and bowels.
Nevertheless, this news didn't make Little Dragon give up on life. Ultimately, he woke up and the volunteers took him to a foster home where he received 24-hour care. The volunteers arranged acupuncture treatment and Little Dragon knew that despite the odds, they all hoped for his recovery. He created one miracle after another. Eventually, a loving family adopted him.
Today, he can run and jump. Although he may be slightly different from normal cats but he can control his bowel movements. Now, Little Dragon has a super loving "Dragon Mom," and he just enjoys life!
On the other hand, foster dad relies on a cane to walk due to illness and limited mobility. When he witnessed the miracle of Little Dragon recovering from paralysis, he was deeply inspired to begin active treatment, trying acupuncture and rehabilitation to courageously fight against his fate. Now, he is able to walk without relying on a cane and has regained his strength for life.
Campaign Statement
Hello everyone! Little Dragon is very lucky to have met so many kind-hearted people who helped change his fate. He wants to share his story to remind everyone that sometimes, a small act by one person can change a life forever and even influence others.
Another interesting note is that the foster dad has been ill for a while, making him unable to walk without a cane for over two years but during Little Dragon's recovery process, he found inspiration and now he can walk without a cane!
I hope everyone can continue to change lives and create more miracles together.

Little One Acts of Love and Hope: A Journey from Homelessness to Becoming an Animal Teacher
Little One is a Persian cat, found on the streets by the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Conservation Department in January 2014. When she was about one year old, no one knows if she was abandoned or lost. After spending four nights in the department, she escaped euthanasia due to her breed. Later, she was given to the SPCA where we found her waiting for adoption.
At that time, we had a tabby Persian cat named Tobbie and the two cats were almost identical so we decided to adopt Cobbie, renaming her from Little One to Cobbie. Since then, Tobbie became the elder sister and Cobbie became the younger one, nicknamed Little One. Shortly after Cobbie came home, we met the Non-Profit Veterinary Service (NPV) that wanted to expand animal education in schools, recruiting abandoned animals to promote the message of "adopt, don't shop."Cobbie, with her calm demeanor, she became one of the first "animal teachers" for NPV and has been doing this for ten years.
In addition to participating in NPV activities, Little One often accompanies students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in animal-assisted activities, helping them grow. Furthermore, Little One regularly visits the Tin Shui Wai Rehabilitation Centre (Placidity Place) to provide comforting companionship for individuals in mental recovery. Whether quietly allowing people to pet and hold her or playfully moving around, Little One always brings endless joy and laughter to everyone.
Campaign Statement
Despite her past as a stray, Cobbie nicknamed Little One lively personality has made her the joy of our family. Every time we come back from the supermarket, supermarket receipts became her favorite toy for practicing ball skills. After experiencing life on the streets, Little One grew stronger and faced both humans and other dogs with calmness, even remaining unflustered in unfamiliar and noisy environments.
Throughout her ten years of service, Little One has been deeply loved by both teachers and students. Her reborn life is vibrant and meaningful, serving as a beacon of hope for abandoned lives. We hope everyone can support Little One so she can continue to spread this love and courage!

Auntie's Rescued Mother and Babies: A Journey from Pain to Recovery
The mother and son were rescued from a drain by a lady a year ago. When they were rescued, they were covered in wounds. The doctor said the mother could be treated but the kitten was too young and there was nothing to be done. Everyone knows that while skin diseases aren't fatal, they're more troublesome than infectious diseases. Thankfully, with the help of volunteers, they found various health products to strengthen their immunity and now they no longer have skin issues at their foster home.

Little Brother
Kitten 8 - Afflicted with osteogenesis imperfecta, the owner says, "As long as you don’t give up, we won’t give up on you."
Origin: Abandoned Shop Cat
Age: 3 years old
Gender: Male
Personality: Friendly to people, cats and dogs, a simple, friendly ambassador! He shows a warm attitude towards all smaller animals! Although he is huge, he has a gentle heart and often shows funny expressions.
Facing a heavy fate, the owner makes a heartfelt confession to the little one.
The fate of shop cats should not be troubled by the closure of shops, but reality often contradicts that….Three years ago on Christmas Eve, we found Little Brother trapped in an airline cage beside a soon-to-close restaurant. The cold weather made him shiver and he had a runny nose, looking weak and pitiful. His siblings in the cage had sadly returned to cats’ heaven.
We immediately took him to the clinic for treatment and then brought him home. At four months old, Little Brother was not wary of humans and was so clingy that it melted hearts. Initially, the doctor thought it was just a common cold but it turned out his condition was serious. One night, I was startled awake by the sound of him falling off the bed. When I tried to pick him up, my hands were covered in blood so I rushed him to the emergency clinic.
The doctor diagnosed him with osteogenesis imperfecta, with affected areas on his nose and legs. His extra bones were lacked fat covering, making him prone to injury even during normal activities.
The doctor suggested surgery requiring full anesthesia but that could affect his growth and lead to side effects so we decided against it. His immunity was always weak and due to the condition, he had breathing difficulties, making it hard to shake off colds. For nearly a year, he was in and out of the clinic. But we always told him, “As long as you don’t give up, we won’t give up on you.” And this child indeed showed spirit, even understanding and cooperating with taking medicine or nebulization without struggle.
Today, Little Brother has grown from a sick cat with a runny nose into a majestic warm-hearted dad. Thank you for your efforts to become strong. Your health as you age is the greatest gift you can give us.
Campaign Statement
Hello everyone, his name is Little Brother, nickname Wah Dee (Mama said he looks like Lau Wah). His days as a stray is behind him. Since Mama took him home, he has been living a happy life. Now he has a wife and many children. His eldest son is very clingy and they live happily together. He is very lucky to have a family that cherishes him but many other abandoned cats still await a chance for rebirth. I hope his story can awaken more people to the plight of abandoned/stray animals.
I hope all cat lovers can stay healthy, with full food bowls. Please vote for Little Brother to ensure everyone’s safety!

Afflicted by illness and having undergone multiple surgeries, neither side has ever given up on perseverance.
At the beginning of 2023, Sim Sim was rescued by volunteers due to land acquisition in Ping San. At first, Sim Sim’s health deteriorated, showing symptoms of breathing difficulties. The volunteers sought medical help and performed multiple tests but the cause remained undetermined. At one point, they suspected tumors or peritonitis but all treatments seemed futile and Sim Sim’s condition worsened. During one medical visit, Sim Sim suddenly gasped for air and became weak, a very critical moment.
Unfortunately, it was rush hour and traffic was terrible. All we could do was silently pray for him to hold on. Fortunately, Sim Sim made it to the hospital, but was diagnosed with chronic pleural effusion, requiring removal of the right lung lobes. However, due to the high risks, costs and difficulties of the surgery, many cases of cats have died during surgery and several doctors expressed their inability to help, suggesting we consider giving up on Sim Sim. Instead of waiting for death, we chose to fight. Neither we nor Sim Sim gave up, facing unknown medical costs and future, we didn’t back down. Thankfully, a doctor eventually agreed to perform the surgery and Sim Sim bravely survived four major surgeries.
Although the medical expenses totalled HKD300,000, seeing Sim Sim stabilize, we knew it was all worth it. His strength and our efforts paid off and Sim Sim's life continued under our protection.
Campaign Statement
Once a ferocious stray cat, Sim Sim was not abandoned by the volunteers, doctors, and many kind-hearted strangers who supported him. Sim Sim once closed himself off due to past experiences but the love he received melted the ice in his heart. Through Sim Sim’s story, I hope to awaken more attention to the plight of stray animals. Please vote for Sim Sim.

From the Streets to Home: The Happy Transformation of a Gentleman
His name is Gentleman, a renowned breed—the Golden Retriever—yet he didn't receive the treatment one would expect for such a breed. He wandered the streets, carrying a peculiar smell, with insects often hovering around his ears and no humans came to his aid.
Despite this, Gentleman remained optimistic and loved interacting with people. Unfortunately, no one ever approached him—until one day, he met a kind lady who took his picture and sought help. That photo changed the course of his life.
This lady posted the picture online, hoping the public could assist Gentleman. Soon after, a rescue team from a local charity responded and with a smile, Gentleman followed them to their vehicle. At that moment, he felt immense joy, as if he had finally received the help he needed. After a series of surgeries and recovery, Gentleman returned to being a normal dog, finally free from insects and that strange odour.
We are incredibly grateful to "Brave Mum's Home For Stray Cats and Dogs" for continuing their efforts despite public pressure! After much hard work, Gentleman was successfully adopted and his new family cares for him deeply. Though he is growing older, he is treasured in his home, enjoying a well-deserved peaceful retirement. Gentleman hopes to use his experience to remind all pet owners to treat their dogs well as they are part of the family.
Campaign Statement
Owning a pet is never easy, which is why the mantra "pause and think" is essential! Gentleman is a testament to this, as neglected from his previous owner led to years of deteriorating health. He is also immensely thankful for the small act of kindness from the lady that changed his life forever.
In truth, even a small gesture from anyone can make a huge difference for stray animals as they do not know how to ask for help. They simply hope that kind-hearted individuals will appear. Sadly, some stray companions have passed away without ever receiving aid. Therefore please don't hesitate to make that phone call or send that text. You could save a living being! Through my story, I hope to encourage everyone to realize that their actions can indeed be impactful and capable of changing the fate of stray animals.

Three-legged Unyielding Warrior: Overcoming Poisoning and Fractures
Ching Wong is a six-year-old dog who has spent most of his life on a construction site in Tsing Yi, working as a guard dog. Despite his youthful prime, fate has thrown him a series of heart-wrenching challenges.
A few years ago, a cruel individual attempted to poison him, but miraculously, he managed to escape death's cold embrace. Just last year, a car accident severely injured his right leg, and despite receiving veterinary treatment, Ching Wong had to undergo amputation, tragically transforming him into a "three-legged dog". Undeterred, he returned to the construction site to continue his life.
Yet, fate had other plans. Only last week, a truck ran over his tail, and in excruciating pain, he vanished from sight. When he reappeared, unable to move, a kind-hearted soul called RCAP for help, hoping Ching Wong could receive timely medical treatment.
Racing against the clock, we rushed Ching Wong to the clinic. Upon examination, the doctor diagnosed him with tick-borne fever, end-stage kidney disease, and a fractured tail. Although his life hung in the balance, Ching Wong 's indomitable spirit shone through. Currently, he is still hospitalized, receiving intravenous fluids, medication, and antibiotics. Whether he is suitable for tail amputation surgery will be determined by the veterinarian in the next few days.
Ching Wong, a strong young warrior, has endured unimaginable pain, yet his life force remains unyielding. Let's all join to send our prayers and positive energy to Ching Wong, wishing him a swift recovery and the strength to overcome these trials.

The Survivor: A Warrior of Life after a Car Accident
In October 2022, near Man Jai Crossing, a dog was suspected to have been tragically hit by a car and suffered severe injuries. In pain, he crawled to a nearby warehouse for help. When the workers arrived, they found him lying helplessly in a corner of the warehouse, covered in blood. Volunteers renamed the dog " Man Jai" and contacted several veterinary clinics, but no one was willing to treat him. A doctor examined him and suggested euthanasia, but he was eventually sent to the City University Animal Medical Centre at 3 AM that night, where it was confirmed that he had a fractured pelvis, displaced spine, multiple fractures, and ruptured testicles.
The next day, he was transferred to NPV, a non-profit veterinary clinic, for complex surgery. With the support and donations from kind-hearted people, Man Jai managed to survive the dangerous period. During his hospitalization, he underwent four major surgeries and was discharged a month later, embarking on the road to recovery. He was praised as the "strongest life warrior in the universe," and even the doctors marvelled at his miraculous recovery!
After receiving meticulous care, Man Jai’s recovery ability was astonishing. Now, he can control his bowel movements, walk and play normally, quickly adapt to family life, learn various commands, and regain his smile. Man Jai is undoubtedly a "survivor and a warrior of life after a car accident"!

Whiskered Angels: Furry Friends to Lean On
Malcolm had always adored cats since he was young and would regularly help care for his friends' pets when they were away. Four years ago, while undergoing treatment for job burnout and depression, a friend suggested that Malcolm adopt a pet, as the companionship and routine might help lift his spirits.
After considering his lifestyle and necessary adjustments for a pet, Malcolm decided to adopt a cat with his family's consent. He began browsing through adoption listings from local animal welfare groups.
Learning from online sources that adopting a bonded pair of cats could help prevent boredom and minimize behavioral issues, Malcolm adopted both Ah Bee and Gee Gee when they were just three months old, encouraged by their fosterer.
The cats' profiles described their unique personalities – Gee Gee adored belly rubs, while Ah Bee was quite vocal around humans, often meowing for attention or treats. Their distinctive characters captivated Malcolm.
Although not biologically related, Ah Bee and Gee Gee first met at their fosterer's home. Ah Bee, rescued from a construction site, was initially resistant to human touch. Conversely, Gee Gee enjoyed his fosterer's attention and physical affection.
At first, Ah Bee was cautious and reluctant to accept Malcolm's touch but learned to embrace his affection after a month of observing his interactions with Gee Gee.
"Now, Ah Bee is a love bug and wants to be as close as possible to my mom and me, often seeking pets or cuddles," Malcolm shares. In fact, when visitors arrive, Ah Bee eagerly greets them at the door while Gee Gee hides!
The cats have been a great source of comfort for Malcolm, particularly during his recovery from job burnout and depression. "I was also seeing a counselor and psychiatrist, as well as attending support groups, but they gave me added motivation to get better."
Malcolm recalls a particularly difficult night when he woke up crying. Sensing his distress, Gee Gee approached and placed a comforting paw on his hand.

Optimistic Struggle: Little Yellow's Three-legged Destiny
Amidst the trials of fate, brave and strong Little Yellow displays an unyielding spirit. Born with only three legs, she still maintains a brilliant smile. Bound by iron chains since childhood, unable to walk freely and with poor limb coordination, she also suffers from heartworm. However, after two months of treatment and care following her rescue, Little Yellow can now walk steadily, even able to walk for 30 minutes continuously!
Recalling two months ago, Little Yellow was always eager to explore the world but often fell. Every time she fell, she would look at us awkwardly, just like a child who made a mistake. Yet, she would quickly try to stand up again, continue forward, and never give up.
Little Yellow always has a bright smile, sharing hardships with her companions, never admitting defeat, and never caring about her disability. She was once rushed to the hospital due to the side effects of heartworm medication but still persisted through the difficult times. Little Yellow's resilience is admirable; although her body is not perfect, she has a perfect personality, always greeting people with a smile.

Brave One in the Dark: Dark Bro
"Dark Bro" is a cool and powerful name. It's hard to imagine from his name that Dark Bro used to live a humble life.
Dark Bro was once a stray. During his time as a stray, only a few volunteers fed him, and hardly anyone noticed his existence. One day, the friendly Dark Bro was unfortunately captured by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. The volunteers couldn't bear to see Dark Bro's life end like this, so they redeemed him from the department and placed him in a small dog shelter.
Just when everyone thought Dark Bro had found a place to live after surviving his ordeal, his fate was not that simple. After 8-9 months at the small dog shelter, some young and strong dogs arrived. Sadly, Dark Bro didn't get along with the new dogs and was bullied and bitten by them. The person in charge of the shelter at the time did not notice Dark Bro's severe injuries until March 2022 when they discovered multiple wounds on his right forearm and palm, infested with maggots, and sought help from various animal organizations. Eventually, KAS, his current shelter, took Dark Bro in, and the shelter owner, Kelly, quickly arranged for him to be treated at a veterinary clinic.
After the doctor's diagnosis, Dark Bro needed to undergo amputation surgery, or the rotting wounds would spread to other parts of his body, posing a life-threatening risk. To save his life, Dark Bro underwent the amputation surgery and became a three-legged dog. During his recovery and adapting to his new life, he needed a loving environment. Fortunately, a foster family was willing to take care of and love Dark Bro during that time, allowing his wounds to heal well!
Although Dark Bro recently returned to KAS due to the temporary foster family being unable to continue fostering animals, his optimistic attitude and warm smile still inject positive energy and hope into Kelly and the volunteers, who continue to care for the cats and dogs at the shelter and work hard to find them forever homes!

In addition to wanting to be elected as the "Furdel Dog of the Year," I also hope to use this opportunity to let more people know about me and find a loving adoptive family! Haha! I hope my extraordinary experiences and life can bring you positive energy, encouraging other furry children and humans to live life positively. Can I get your vote?

Love and Strength of a Paralyzed Cat
In Spring 2016, a scream was heard from a scrapyard in the New Territories. On the ground lay a sister who had become a little angel, and another frightened and discolored calico sister, collapsed on the ground.
Misfortune or great fortune? Although Kaylee was rescued, her spine was damaged, and she could only crawl with her hind legs dragging behind her. Worse, she couldn't control her bowel movements, leading to frequent bacterial infections and bladder inflammation. Who would adopt a cat that constantly needed long-term treatment and was often soiled with feces and urine?
At four months old, Kaylee joined the Hong Kong Rescue Cats and Dogs Association's big family. Over the years, with her big watery eyes, swift gliding steps, and ability to play with just one piece of cat litter all day long, she became the shelter's darling. Volunteers cherished her even more when the doctor initially diagnosed her with only a few years to live.
Don't underestimate a small paralyzed cat. Amidst the pandemic, Kaylee transformed into a big sister in her foster home, helping to care for the many orphaned kittens taken in by the association, accompanying them as they grew up and searched for adoptive homes. Having experienced hopeless treatment, Kaylee would sit quietly beside any cat in need of comfort, as if telling them, "Don't be sad, we'll meet again on the Rainbow Bridge, and you'll be an angel in peace!"
Kaylee accepts her fate and remains content. This spring, she safely celebrated her seventh birthday.
Vote for me:
Cherish: Though I'm a small cat, I'm born with purpose. I'm grateful and repay kindness by wholeheartedly caring for young and dying cats.
Treasure: Every life is precious. I'm physically disabled, but my spirit is not. Even in adversity, I strive to survive. Despite frequent visits to the clinic, receiving treatments, and taking medication every meal, I still live each day positively and happily.
Love: Over the years, I've been supported and understand the importance of passing on love, cherishing the volunteers and my fellow cats.
Please cherish, treasure, and love me – vote for Kaylee.

After much effort, she successfully rescued the cat and took it to a veterinary clinic for examination. Sumtin then searched for adopters, hoping to find a loving home for the cat so they can live a happy life thereafter.
Sumtin mainly relies on her small shop (Facebook page "spicy_fishballs_pls") to support her cat rescue activities. She has devoted her energy, time, and money to save countless cats whose lives hang in the balance. She knows that love must be timely, as cats in the community often die due to late rescue efforts. She encourages everyone to spare a little time when encountering cats and dogs, as it might give the animals a chance at a new life. Despite her limited resources, she still willingly spends a lot of time and effort to save cats and provides them with a temporary home in her shop. This selfless spirit of helping animals is praiseworthy, and we hope Sumtin's passion for animals can inspire more people.
Vote for me:
We live in Hong Kong, where humans and animals should coexist peacefully. Let us not harm or abandon animals, and hope that everyone can work together in their respective roles to help those animals in need of love. The love for stray animals needs to be timely; let us join hands and make an effort together!

The Ruthless Animal Trap Couldn't Break Miley's Will
At the Love Adopt Animal Society in Hong Kong, there is a three-year-old dog named Miley. Not only is she extremely well-behaved, but she is also so pure and adorable that everyone who sees her falls in love with her. However, Miley's past wasn't as lovely.
Originally living in Yuen Long, she was a warehouse dog. If there were people working in the warehouse, she might get some food, but most of the time, she was just a stray dog that came when called. Due to people setting traps to catch animals nearby, one day before Christmas last year, she accidentally got her hind leg caught in a trap while wandering in the bushes. Miley's pain was indescribable, but since Christmas was a public holiday, even the people in the warehouse who took some care of her didn't know she was injured. After a few days of public holidays, by the time she was found, her injured hind leg had become icy cold. However, the warehouse staff couldn't afford the expensive surgery, so they contacted the Love Adopt Animal Society, wanting to have her euthanized.
But the Love Adopt Animal Society was determined to perform surgery for her. To save Miley's life, the veterinarian had to amputate her leg, hoping she could live a good life with only three legs in the future.
Although she lost a leg and was injured by a trap set by humans, Miley still had full trust in people and was very close to them. Even with one less leg, she could still face life's challenges with strength, still enjoying walks, going out, and meeting different people. She was working hard to adapt to her new life, learning to walk and jump with three legs, and continuously spreading her love to everyone she met.
Miley gradually got used to her life with three legs, regained her confidence, and met a new family willing to adopt her at the Love Adopt Animal Society. Since then, Miley started her new life, spending wonderful times with her new family. Miley's story inspired us, helping us understand that adversities in life can not only be overcome but can also make us stronger.
Vote for me:
"Although I've lost a leg, my life will not end because of it. Facing every difficulty with strength is my motto. I hope everyone can support me, cast a vote for me, and let my story inspire more people!"

A Turn of Fate: Tiger's Miracle and Rebirth after a Car Accident
One evening last May, Tiger (formerly named Ah Wang) was found by a kind-hearted person at the entrance of a village in Sheung Shui, Hong Kong. It was believed that he was an unfortunate stray cat that had been hit by a car. At that time, he was lying in a pool of blood, bleeding continuously from his head and neck area, shivering all over, but still trying to stand up. The kind-hearted person immediately took him to the hospital and contacted the animal welfare organization " Pet With You " to handle the situation.
That night, the hospital informed the volunteers that Tiger's condition was not optimistic. He had a low body temperature, uneven pupil dilation in both eyes, misaligned lower jaw, and there was a possibility of brain concussion or internal bleeding from the trauma.
However, Tiger demonstrated a strong will to live. After several surgeries, he gradually regained strength in his weakened body, was able to eat and use the litter box on his own, and even called out to the caregivers and volunteers looking after him. Tiger stayed in the hospital for a month, and his condition improved significantly. He was then moved to a foster home to recuperate.
Although Tiger lost sight in his right eye and had to use various eye drops every day and attend regular check-ups for the following months, the former stray cat was fearless, seemingly aware that everyone around him was helping him. He got along well with the pets in the foster home and was loved by everyone.
The once blood-soaked Tiger overcame adversity with his strong determination. His thin body gradually became rounder, and though he occasionally showed a bit of temper, he would quickly make amends. The affectionate Tiger loves to help those around him by "grooming" them. He is friendly with people, other cats, and dogs. Tiger has now been adopted by his foster family and has become a beloved member of the household!
Vote for me:
Hello, everyone, I am Tiger, a cat with strong vitality and the ability to overcome great challenges.
My story is a fortunate one. I was once a skinny, weak, struggling little fellow, but now I have a small belly and love my human siblings. Having been a stray cat, I know that there are many other companions out there who need help.
I hope my story can make everyone understand that even a small step taken by each person can potentially change a furry friend's life. While there was a driver who hit me and left me behind, there were also kind-hearted people who stopped, took me to the hospital, and many others who provided me with medical assistance. Thank you all for reaching out and giving me a chance to grasp the hand of fortune, allowing me to have a happy cat life now.
Guardian of Love: Pat's Rescue and Foster Journey
Ten years ago, Pat adopted her first cat, sparking a strong interest in volunteer work. To help cats in need, Pat joined the ranks of cat foster homes and began volunteering to catch stray cats. Currently, Pat is fostering 6 cats, 2 kittens, and an amputated kitten at home. At the busiest times, she has cared for over 30 cats, including her own (she currently has 11 of her own).
Pat specializes in taking in stray cats that no one else wants to adopt. She has learned to communicate with cats, create wheelchairs for amputated cats, change bandages, and even carry kittens around while working, feeding them on the go. Under Pat's careful care, the kittens gradually recover and grow strong. Full of love, Pat tirelessly takes care of these cats, becoming a model cat volunteer angel in my eyes.
Pat's motivation for helping stray cats stems from her love for them. I first met Pat when I adopted one of the cats she was fostering. I wanted to donate some money to help her care for the cats, but Pat insisted on not taking a penny. She quietly does good deeds without seeking attention, paying for the best private doctors to care for the cats out of her own pocket.
However, good times didn't last. Soon after I adopted my first adult cat, Gua Gua, from Pat, it was diagnosed with kidney disease. During my relentless care for Gua Gua, Pat stepped in without hesitation, helping me care for Gua Gua in its final moments. Pat's selfless dedication and deep love for cats allowed me to feel everything she has done for these helpless little lives. She takes care of this group of cats that need love without expecting any return, only to give them a happy life.
In this seemingly cold world, Pat's actions show us love and warmth. It's because of people like her that these stray cats can find the warmth of a home.
Vote for me:
Please vote for the Angel Pat, who is undoubtedly the best cat volunteer angel, giving her money, energy, and love. I've known Pat for five years, and we still keep in touch. Whenever my cat is unwell, she goes out of her way to help me understand how to care for it by consulting the doctor, and even helps me schedule appointments with veterinarians she knows when I can't. Over the past five years, I have been sincerely grateful for her countless assistance.
One of my dreams is to be inspired by Pat's actions and hope that one day I can become an outstanding, versatile cat volunteer just like her.

Growing Diary of the Voiceless Puppy: Gradually emerging from the darkness
In 2017, a family went through the most painful year of their lives. They lost two fetuses and were physically and emotionally exhausted. At the same time, in Yeung Uk Fung, Yuen Long, an unlicensed breeding farm was found to have 101 dogs. The unlicensed breeding farm was a chilling place where 101 dogs were trapped in small cages and lived in extremely harsh conditions. Their bodies were full of disease and pain, and some of them could not even stand. Those dogs, whose vocal cords had been cut, couldn't make a sound, and they couldn't even cry for help.
When the SPCA discovered this place, they were no longer mentally and physically healthy dogs but instead were exhausted, weak, and in pain. Somesome was one of the 101 dogs, and her physical condition was very poor at that time. She was on the verge of death. Her skin disease and malnutrition were also very severe, and she was emaciated and dehydrated, so much so that she couldn't even stand. During the treatment period with SPCA, Somesome, like other dogs, experienced great pain and suffering, and unfortunately, some dogs died. The fate of these dogs was heartbreaking, and they were forced to endure unimaginable pain and hardship.
At the end of March 2018, SPCA officially opened the adoption of these dogs. One day, a couple visited the Wan Chai SPCA centre to see different animals. When they saw Somesome, who was one of the 101 dogs, they learned about her tragic background. At that time, Somesome was the most frightened one among the dogs. She kept walking around, very panicked, and even the touch of humans would make her shrink and run away, looking very pitiful. Therefore, they decided to adopt Somesome.
When Somesome first arrived at her new home, she had severe anxiety and was afraid of anything new. She didn't know what was food, what was a toy, and she couldn't even eat apples or other meat products.
Under the guidance of a behavioral therapist at SPCA, Somesome's owner slowly introduced her to new things, starting from looking outside the bag to try to eat meat and play with toys. In this process, Somesome's therapist taught them to gradually let Somesome accept new things, make progress step by step, and that's where the name Somesome came from.
After a long period of effort, Somesome gradually accepted this new environment. Whenever there was food, Somesome's eyes would light up, and she would rotate through all the toys every day. Even though she couldn't bark due to the removal of her vocal cords, Somesome had learned to express her wishes through gestures and tapping her owner's leg. Their happy behavior brought more laughter to the family. Although she still feared going out, Somesome also enjoyed observing passers-by in a safe situation.
Somesome's name may represent every step of her gradual growth process, or it may represent every happy moment she brings to her owners. As her owners watched Somesome grow step by step, they gradually emerged from the pain of losing their fetuses and learned to live optimistically, realizing that as long as they don't give up, happiness will gradually come. Somesome's story helps people understand that adopting pets can bring happiness, and also hopes.
Vote for me:
Somesome: "I hope that every stray and rescued furry friend can find a loving mom and dad like mine did, and walk out of the darkness with laughter and happiness every day. The most important thing is to adopt, not shop, to reduce the demand and prevent more innocent animals from being harmed."

Abandoned due to illness, the strong vitality of One-Hsiu ignited hope
Ikkyu is now 15 years old, but nobody knows about his growth process except the heartless person who abandoned him.
One morning in February this year, a security guard at a residential estate in Tai Wai discovered a suspicious pet bag in a corner on the roadside. Upon investigation, he found a critically ill British Shorthair cat named Ikkyu, along with a note with simple information: Ikkyu, male, born in June 2008. There were also new cat kidney food and canned food in the bag, indicating that Ikkyu was likely suffering from kidney disease.
A kind-hearted person took Ikkyu home temporarily and found him very weak, with his whole body wet with urine. It is believed that he spent the whole night in the cold.
Eventually, Ikkyu was taken to a veterinarian by the volunteers of the Pet With You Team. At the time, Ikkyu's intestines had stopped moving due to not eating for a long time. He also suffered from severe diabetic ketoacidosis, as well as various complications such as pancreatitis, weakness in the hind legs, and vision problems. In addition, Ikkyu's other organs such as the heart and liver also had various hidden dangers, and the situation was extremely pessimistic.
However, Ikkyu did not give up. Although he was exhausted, he would try to respond to his name when softly called. After only 8 days in the hospital, Ikkyu showed his strong vitality, and his spirit and life indicators gradually improved. He could even eat on his own without relying on a nasal feeding tube. Although he needs regular follow-up visits, daily insulin injections, and medication to control his condition, he was finally able to leave the hospital. Ikkyu is currently resting in a temporary foster home, where he can once again feel human love and the feeling of home under the care of his temporary foster parents.
Vote for me:
Hello, everyone, I am Ikkyu. I hope to remind all pet owners through this competition and my own experience that pets are family members, not toys or decorations. We will also grow old and may have various illnesses, but please do not choose to abandon us. You are our only hope.
Don't worry, I have survived the dangerous period, and my condition is gradually stabilizing! I hope you can bless me to find a peaceful home and spend the rest of my days together. At the same time, I also hope to ask everyone to cheer on my temporary foster family, who work hard every day to take care of me! It's not easy to feed me medicine and injections every day, and you know that old cats can be temperamental. Thank you for your warm arms, which make me feel warm again.
Concept of "Home" in Founding Home for Homeless Dog
Since childhood, April has been influenced by her family's love for animals, and has long-term experience in feeding stray animals and volunteering for animal welfare. She has always regarded them as family members, but due to her work, she couldn't devote her full attention to them. After witnessing a series of stray dogs being poisoned on a mountain, April was determined to establish " Home for Homeless Dog." She quit her job, sold her property to build a dog shelter, and wholeheartedly took care of the stray dogs, carefully selecting suitable adopters for them. April hopes to provide them with a safe and secure home for life, free from threats and harm. From 2019 to 2022, April and her volunteers have rescued nearly 400 animals, with about 80% successfully finding new owners. In addition to rescuing animals, April also emphasizes life education. She believes that promoting animal welfare concepts and educating the next generation are the keys to alleviating the situation of stray animals in Hong Kong.
In an interview, April stated, "Currently, many people still do not take the issues of sterilization and release seriously, resulting in dogs maintaining high birth rates. Overburdened owners choose to abandon or neglect them without proper sterilization, creating a vicious cycle. However, the adoption rate cannot keep up with the birth and abandonment rates, causing animal organizations to be constantly over capacity. I believe that the current situation where pet owners can easily abandon their pets is unhealthy, and there should be more deterrent provisions and penalties for abandonment."
April tirelessly takes care of the furry children regardless of their age, weakness, or disability, with the hope of providing them a happy and comfortable home. She is determined to protect them till the end.
Vote for me:
I regard the strays as my family, and I am devoted to the animal welfare industry, contributing to my family (animals and stray animals), rescuing them from harsh environments, and witnessing their health and mental state improve. From being homeless to being loved by their adoptive families, I believe this brings me the greatest happiness, no matter how difficult the journey may be. I am also glad to meet many like-minded people, who let me know that I am not alone on this path, but instead surrounded by love and warmth. While voting in the election, please don't forget to pay attention to the welfare of stray animals! Thank you.

"Pearl's Journey: From Abandoned to Beloved"
The story of Pearl may not be a heart-stopping tale, but it is one filled with warmth and love. Originally named Wangcai, Pearl was abandoned in June 2022 when her owner heartlessly declared, "Either take her away or leave her on the mountain!" This memory still lingers in Pearl's mind, but fortunately, she met a kind-hearted volunteer who renamed her Pearl, symbolizing the love and care she deserves. From that moment on, Pearl's fate started to change.
At first, Pearl was afraid of humans and didn't know how to get along with other dogs. But thanks to the patient guidance and care of her volunteer, Pearl gradually learned to socialize and became a polite, friendly, and intelligent ambassador of love. Her innocent smile and childlike heart have touched everyone who has met her.
Pearl's story reminds us that every fur baby is unique and worthy of love and attention. No matter how unfortunate their circumstances, as long as someone is willing to extend a helping hand, their fate can be changed for the better. Pearl also reminds us not to judge animals by their appearance or stereotypes. Every animal has their own unique personality and traits, and only by taking the time to understand them can we truly appreciate their loveliness and charm.
Pearl's story is also an inspiring one. From a scared and abandoned pup, she grew into a caring and well-mannered ambassador of love, thanks to the volunteer's patience and care. This tells us that with heartfelt effort, attention, and care, every life has the potential to change for the better and become a beautiful presence, making this world a better place.

A Moment of Redemption: Xavier's Struggle for Survival
“Gasp...gasp...gasp” Severely injured, Xavier painfully and laboriously crawled to the doorstep of a house, desperately seeking help from humans. At that critical moment between life and death, Xavier was saved. When he was found, he was barely alive, with multiple wounds on his body, indicating he had been bitten and tormented by a dog. We don't know how he escaped the ordeal, but thankfully, a kind-hearted person brought him in just in time.
A few hours after being admitted to the hospital, a caring male nurse stayed by his side, and we named the little guy after him - Xavier. The doctor said Xavier's condition was critical, with external and internal injuries, a fractured spine, paralysis in the lower body, and severe dehydration. All we could do was to give him painkillers and fluids to make him comfortable. If he was willing to fight, we would support him wholeheartedly; otherwise, at least we would be his final refuge. As everyone began to lose hope, the resilient Xavier showed us the miracle of life.
After surgery, Xavier miraculously survived. During his stay at the hospital, his spirits gradually improved. Initially thought to be irreparable, his fractured spine began to heal, and his hind legs slowly regained strength. However, Xavier still couldn't defecate or urinate on his own and required daily assistance from volunteers. Not long ago, Xavier returned to the cat shelter to continue his recovery and will need follow-up visits every couple of months to monitor his progress.
Over the years, the cat shelter has saved many cats who were bitten by dogs. Some have passed away, while others have survived with severe injuries. Their wounds don't seem to have been caused by stray dogs but rather by dogs let loose by their owners to chase cats, perhaps to boast about their conquests. We are grateful that Xavier never gave up; despite the long road to recovery, we will stand by him every step of the way. If you would also like to accompany Xavier on this journey, we welcome you to become his foster parent.
Vote for me:
Though I was once bitten by a dog, I never gave up hope in life and trust in humans. I am grateful to the humans who saved me! In fact, many of my fellow stray animals have suffered a similar fate, having been bitten by dogs as well. To prevent such tragedies from happening again, we ask dog owners not to let their dogs harm other lives, and for witnesses to bravely step forward and stop these acts. Life and death hang in the balance, all in a single thought.
Grandpa's Final Gift?
In 2018, Yiu's grandfather, who had taken care of her since childhood, passed away. Yiu dealt with all the funeral arrangements by herself, and although she had always been independent and strong, she too had her breaking point. From that day on, she couldn't bear to hear her grandfather's name or the sound of a metal coffin, as it would trigger her emotions. She lamented that no matter how good a person was to others in their lifetime or how much they supported their family, they might not have their loved ones by their side when they pass away. Instead, they are placed in a cold, metal coffin, much like throwing away trash.
Exactly seven days after her grandfather's passing, Yiu, who was wandering the streets unwilling to return home, was attracted by a child's cry. It turned out to be a two-month-old kitten calling out to her. It seemed like a gift from her grandfather, as if the kitten was meant to take his place in her heart.
Yiu has always been someone who keeps her problems to herself and solves them on her own. The kitten did not disappoint her grandfather's expectations, and Yiu devoted a lot of time and effort to raising it. The kitten also brought a total of 12 cats (all of which are now neutered) into Yiu's care. Among the 12, only one has passed away, and the other members of the cat family are now 5-8 years old. In the past, Yiu thought she only needed to provide good food for them, but later she learned about pet first aid, building cat houses, massage, cleaning and grooming, and nutrition.
As time went by, proper care turned the weak stray cats into strong, muscular adults. Long-term heartfelt communication unexpectedly taught one of the cats to express its thoughts in Cantonese. It can say phrases like "hurry up," "enough," "I'm full," "let's go," "there's nothing left," "what?!" and so on (with recorded evidence).
Vote for me:
To me, cats are gifts of fate, as well as my therapists and fitness trainers. Taking care of stray cats has also given me a strong physique because I often have to carry heavy food and medicine, always ready to help cats in need. Feeding and cleaning also involve a lot of climbing and squatting. I made a silent promise to myself that "no matter how my living environment changes, I will give them the best living conditions" and managed to pull through the economic downturn brought on by COVID-19 for three years.
Kakato is one of their favorite brands, especially the salmon broth. Kakato also accepts independent individuals to participate in this competition, and I saw this opportunity as a way to give back to the stray cats, so I signed up. I am a stray cat caregiver who has never asked anyone for donations of food or money, nor have I ever revealed any information on social media that would expose the hiding places of the strays. I will not reveal such information in the future. If I win this competition, I will share my winnings with the community strays. I believe that, besides me, my stray cats would also be happy to take care of other strays. Since one person's power is limited, I am more willing to donate and share. Thank you.

Charming Cat Unites the Community in Yuen Long
On the bustling On Sum Street in Yuen Long, there is a pet supply store where the legendary figure of On Sum Street resides - Wonton. Wonton is a 12-year-old cat with bright and alert eyes and a signature smokey eye makeup. He always wears fashionable and trendy pet clothing, sometimes in bikinis and other times in Hip Pop clothing, becoming the fashion pioneer of Yuen Long's streets. Wonton's reputation does not come from his fashion sense, but from his unparalleled social skills. He shuttles between the streets and alleys every day, visiting every household, and lying on the roadside, wagging his tail, and making soulful calls to greet the neighbors. Under his hospitality, neighbors become his fans, and some even come from other districts to visit this humorous Mr. Cat.
However, in Wonton's fourth year, an unexpected event happened. One day, Wonton went out for a stroll as usual, but he did not return home that afternoon. The store owner and neighbors began to search for Wonton nearby but to no avail. Later, the CCTV footage from nearby shops revealed the truth: Wonton was taken away by a stranger. After the news spread, the entire community became anxious. Neighbors came out to help, spreading information about the missing cat, and even called the police for assistance. With everyone's joint efforts, Wonton was finally returned to the street on the sixth night. From then on, Wonton became a small celebrity cat manager in Yuen Long. Many neighbors said that Wonton has a magical power that can bring positive energy to people.
Although Wonton's story is ordinary, it highlights how he brings the community together. A cat can actually make neighbors unite and overcome difficulties together. This is undoubtedly Wonton's greatest contribution to the community!
Vote for me:
Hello everyone! I am Wonton! I hope my existence can bring more joy to everyone. Recently, something unpleasant happened in the store, which made me realize that besides making everyone happy, I also have another mission, which is to educate everyone to love and respect animals. Whether we are cats, dogs, or other animals, we all deserve to be loved and respected. I, Wonton, will always guard On Sum Street and continue to serve the neighbors in Yuen Long. I will use my enthusiasm and love to infect everyone, making this community a better place!
Fung Establishes "The Strays' Final Journey" to Offer a Last Farewell to Deceased Animals
Growing up with the company of dogs, Fung, a rough-looking man, has always wanted to help stray animals. However, due to limited space and resources at home, he was unable to provide assistance.
Two years ago, Fung, who has two dogs at home, was driving along San Tin Highway when he came across a dog that had been hit and killed by a car. To prevent the deceased dog from being further run over by vehicles, he carried its body away and contacted an animal volunteer organization to handle the remains.
Two days later, he discovered another dead cat on Yuen Long Highway and realized that stray cats and dogs in Hong Kong were often killed by careless drivers. As a result, he immediately joined the volunteer organization to help transport the strays who had been involved in unfortunate traffic accidents.
In January 2021, he founded "Protect the Strays" teaming up with compassionate volunteers to ensure that even if the deceased strays did not receive love and care during their lifetime, they could still have a dignified final journey.
Fung and his volunteers are on call 24/7. Whether it's day or night, whenever they receive a call for help, they immediately set out to pick up the deceased cats and dogs. They clean the bodies with wet wipes and bleach water, reassemble the limbs to their original shape, and even sew them up with needle and thread before sending them to a pet cremation company.
Fung does not accept any donations, but he welcomes the donation of supplies. He uses his limited power to offer the last farewell to stray animals.
Vote for me:
Even if they were not loved in their lifetime, someone will be there for them after they pass away. I hope more people will pay attention to the rights and welfare of stray cats and dogs and drive more responsibly. I look forward to the day when "The Strays' Final Journey" no longer needs to pick up cats and dogs on the road, and every cat and dog is loved and cherished.

Hani's Heartfelt Journey: From Abandoned Pup to Life-Changing Therapy Dog
Hani is a special dog whose kindness has impacted countless lives of people and animals. Like many stray dogs, Hani was abandoned by her owners three times and experienced much hardship and loneliness. However, when a caring nurse adopted her, Hani finally felt the warmth of a family.
From that moment on, Hani began a new life as an animal-assisted therapy dog, carrying love and a sense of mission to help those in need. Whenever her owner took Hani to participate in service activities, she would happily put on her uniform, ready to start her work. She not only brought joy and pleasure to people but also gave them strength and support, enabling them to overcome their difficulties and stand up again. Some children, who lost trust in people and relationships due to various challenges in their lives, began to open their hearts and learn to build trust and connections with animals through interacting with Hani.
Hani is like a little ambassador, encouraging and inspiring people to care for animals and those around them. Hani's story tells us that every life is worth paying attention to and respecting. Even in the most challenging times, we can empower each other through mutual support and love, making each other stronger and more resilient. So, let us emulate Hani's beliefs and become better people, caring for those around us, including animals.
Vote for me:
My motto is "a life affecting a life." Even though we are animals, we can still contribute to human society and help those in need. Moreover, I hope that more people will consider adopting us and providing us with a warm home. As long as you treat us with love, like you would your family members, and accompany us through every stage of our lives - from birth to old age, from sickness to death - we will definitely feel your dedication and care.

"From Lonely Cat to Cat Community Leader: Fat Ball's Amazing Transformation!"
One day in September 2019, Tai O Stray Cat Home received a call for help from the Housing Authority staff and adopted a ten-year-old domestic cat named "Fat Ball." Fat Ball was once the faithful companion of a solitary elderly person, who unfortunately passed away, leaving Fat Ball alone in the empty unit for six months. At that time, the elderly person's friends and relatives did not adopt Fat Ball and could only provide food and water for him once a week. Eventually, the Housing Authority needed to take back the unit, and luckily, Tai O Stray Cat Home successfully adopted Fat Ball.
Long-term loneliness made Fat Ball's personality quirky and highly guarded towards strangers, and he would often attack people as a unique and fierce cat. However, in the cat community, Fat Ball showed a different side. In the cat community, Fat Ball played a crucial role, becoming the leader and taking care of other cats. He would enthusiastically welcome new members and take on the role of a big brother. Fat Ball's importance was not only reflected in his leadership position, but he was also a pillar of support for other cats. Once, two cats with a deep bond with Fat Ball were adopted but could not adapt to their new family's life due to missing Fat Ball, refusing to eat or drink. When we brought these two cats back to the cat community, they immediately rushed to find Fat Ball and showed their love by rubbing their heads together. This scene made us deeply realize how strong the emotional bond between cats can be.
Fat Ball is a special guardian angel of Tai O Stray Cat Home, bringing more love and care to stray cats. His presence makes the cat community more harmonious and lets other cats feel the warmth of a home.
Vote for me:
I am honored to be known as the special guardian angel of Tai O Stray Cat Home, and I will continue to work hard to bring more love and care to stray cats! I hope everyone can vote and support me!

Personality:Star is a brave cat who trusts humans and other cats. He enjoys being close to people and being petted. When he first arrived at the The MCCC Animal Shelter, Star may have shown a little bit of wariness due to unfamiliar surroundings, but he quickly adapted to the new environment. He’s not very interested in cat toys and displays a calm demeanor. However, every mealtime, Star always stares at the volunteers with a determined look, eagerly anticipating a delicious feast.
Love without barriers: Star's struggle and new life as a three-legged cat
Last year's Christmas, the weather was cold. A kind resident found the huddled Star in a corner of the garbage station. At the time, Star was very weak and frightened, and his left front leg was seriously injured. The good Samaritan immediately contacted the MCCC Animal Shelter for help.
After a veterinary examination, it was discovered that Star's left front leg was completely broken, and the wound was very severe. To avoid infection, the veterinarian decided to perform an amputation surgery for Star. Although his body had no contagious diseases, he was malnourished and around two years old, indicating that he had already experienced a long life of wandering. After his left front leg was injured, life became even more difficult, and he was lucky to be discovered by someone at the garbage station when he was exhausted.
After the surgery, Star returned to the MCCC Animal Shelter for recovery. Although he lost a leg, he found a new home and made many friends here. He is now very friendly and has established friendships with other cats. Most importantly, he now has regularly timed and portioned delicious food every day and no longer has to live a difficult life like before.
Vote for me:
"Thank you so much to everyone who noticed me at the garbage station, saved me, and took care of me. Your love and support have rewritten my life. Although I'm now a three-legged cat, I believe I will quickly adapt and integrate into the MCCC Animal Shelters’ big family. I hope everyone will vote for me and prove that disabled furry friends are equally worthy of love and care."
Shelter:Maison de Charlotte pour des Chats et des Chiens (MCCC) Animal Shelter
Age:7 years old
Gender:Female
Personality:Affectionate, well-behaved, and always wearing a sweet smile. Though she loves to eat, when other dogs are surrounding food, she always sits quietly on the side, waiting for her share without fighting for it. She never shows any bad temper.
Swing Nose Sister's Miraculous Recovery Journey
In the summer of 2018, MCCC Animal Shelter received a call for help about a stray dog with severe facial injuries, and they named her Swing Nose Sister. At that time, her nose and mouth had been eaten away by flies and maggots, leaving her face bloody and mangled, and she was also suffering from babesiosis and heartworm. Charlotte knew Swing Nose Sister needed urgent care, so she and other volunteers captured her and sent her to the clinic for treatment.
Many people suggested that Charlotte give up on treating Swing Nose Sister because her injuries were too severe. However, Charlotte saw her silly smile and knew that she was a strong life, eager to survive and grateful for human help. Therefore, Charlotte endured various pressures to help Swing Nose Sister, provided the most suitable treatment for her, and even arranged skin graft surgery to repair her extensive facial wounds. Despite the immense pain Swing Nose Sister experienced during treatment, she always maintained a well-behaved attitude and never lost her temper.
Five years have passed, and Swing Nose Sister has gone through a difficult recovery journey, but now she has fully recovered and is in excellent health. She has become a caring big sister, getting along very well with both people and dogs. People are deeply moved when they see Swing Nose Sister's sweet smile, which is the most beautiful part of her life story.
Vote for me:
Swing Nose Sister: "Although my appearance is different from other dogs, and some people might be scared of me at first glance, some even say I look like an Iron Blood Warrior~ But now I'm really happy every day, so I always wear a smile, hoping that people won't be so scared of me when they see me smiling~ Please support me, the reconstructed dog Swing Nose Sister, by voting for me as a dog model to prove that appearance doesn't matter for dogs. By the way, what is a Predator?"
Expats Return to Hong Kong and Move to Tai O, Beginning a Wonderful Relationship with an AIDS-infected Cat "Mickey"
Hiyuki has been raising cats on his own since college. After living in the United States, he returned to Hong Kong with his cat, who had accompanied him for 18 years. He became more familiar with feline habits, and since the cat's departure, he had given up on the idea of keeping pets in Hong Kong. However, after six years without pets, he fostered an AIDS-infected cat named "Mickey" in Tai O and began to reacquaint himself with living with cats.
The amazing fate began a year before the fostering when Typhoon Mangkhut hit Hong Kong. Catwoman saw Mickey, a fat cat, in danger and asked Hiyuki to foster him for two days. At that time, Hiyuki saw a cat with flattened fur, dirty and disheveled, and fat and sluggish. His obsessive-compulsive nature contrasted sharply with Mickey. As there were three other kittens taking shelter at the time, he placed Mickey in a separate warehouse - the bathroom. After a night of gentle grooming, Mickey freely walked around the house and even followed Hiyuki's father like a personal ointment. Mickey had a solitary, chubby uncle personality with a touch of the underworld, not interacting with other cats but very friendly to humans. After Typhoon Mangkhut, Mickey was taken back to the streets by Catwoman and volunteers, continuing his life as a roaming, unowned cat. However, a year later, Mickey contracted feline AIDS due to fighting, with a bleak outlook, suffering from a bloody nose and nearly two months of hospitalization. One day, Catwoman called Hiyuki and asked for his help. Hiyuki immediately agreed and took Mickey to his home to foster.
Living Together with an AIDS-Infected Cat Inspires the Establishment of Tai O's "AIDS Cat House"
When Mickey returned to Hiyuki's home, he appeared emaciated and weak, still having the personality of an underworld boss but showing a "past his prime" vibe. As always, he followed Hiyuki's father like a sugar-coated bean, and Hiyuki described his home as becoming a nursing home. Reacquainting himself with living with cats wasn't difficult for Hiyuki; he thought it only required changing some habits, such as feeding and cleaning, and reducing time spent away overnight. However, it felt like having a child waiting at home, and he was always worried. After two months of fostering at Hiyuki's home, Mickey transformed back into a "cute house cat" resembling a chubby underworld boss. Unfortunately, after two years of brief interaction with Mickey, the fat cat passed away due to long-term kidney problems.
Looking back on Mickey's 14-year life, he went from being a wild cat on a rock wall to a pet in Tai O, then abandoned to become a stray, and finally a beloved cat of Yong An Street. Due to fighting, he contracted feline AIDS and eventually passed away at Hiyuki's home. Mickey's fate of being loved and abandoned deeply touched Hiyuki, making him realize that "having a home makes a cat child a treasure," and because of Mickey, Hiyuki discovered that feline AIDS isn't scary. It only causes cats to lose their immunity and can be transmitted to other cats through blood or mating, but it doesn't affect humans. As a result, he began to temporarily take in some AIDS-infected cats and founded the "AIDS Cat House" on this basis. Now, his home has become a sanctuary for AIDS-infected cats, currently fostering two cats named Zhi Zhi and Ah Wang.
Vote for me:
Let's all cheer for Tai O's "AIDS Cat House" together! Most importantly, we hope that everyone will refrain from buying pets or abandoning them. Instead, try to help stray animals by adopting, fostering, or providing assistance, giving them a home.

A Cat Who Walked Back From the Edge of Life and Death
Mao Mao is a little cat from the Love Cats Everyday shelter. When Mao Mao was only one month old, he was rescued by volunteers, but his health condition was extremely poor. He had a cold and diarrhea and was on the verge of death. However, the volunteers did not give up on him and took care of him with all their hearts, and eventually, Mao Mao pulled through and gradually regained his health.
Unfortunately, happiness did not last long. Last Christmas, Mao Mao was unfortunate enough to contract feline panleukopenia, a serious feline disease with a mortality rate of over 90% for young cats. Even with treatment at the hospital, many cats still did not survive. Mao Mao's situation was also very critical and required full-on medical care. With the relentless efforts of the doctors and volunteers, Mao Mao miraculously survived and became one of the lucky few who defeated feline panleukopenia.
Now, Mao Mao has a happy family with a father, mother, and siblings to live with. Mao Mao knows that if it weren't for the love and effort of the volunteers and doctors, he might not be alive today. Therefore, he hopes to continue to speak up for stray cats and dogs, calling on everyone to support adoption and not abandon pets, so that more fur babies can have a happy and fulfilling life.
Vote for me:
Hello, my name is Mao Mao. I was originally a stray kitten, but fortunately, the volunteers saved me and changed my life! I hope everyone can support me and vote for me! Support adoption, don't abandon pets!

Spotty's Growth Story: From a Stray in a Garbage Dump to a Therapy Dog
In August 2018, heavy rain caused flooding in the cat and dog shelter located in the disaster-stricken area, reaching chest-level. I helped bring two puppies home to take care of them, and Spotty was one of them.
Originally a stray in the Yuen Long garbage station, Spotty was rescued by kind-hearted people and brought to the cat and dog shelter. With a friendly temperament, Spotty started learning to follow commands during her foster care at my home. Later, Spotty began participating in church activities and was then invited by special schools, allowing her to accompany students with severe intellectual disabilities weekly. By feeding Spotty snacks, the students' learning interest and small muscle stretching exercises were enhanced. Additionally, some out-of-school teenagers who love animals came to help take care of Spotty and accompanied her to school services, gradually changing and regaining confidence in their studies.
In 2020, Pastor Chan Lai-ha from the church adopted Spotty. Thanks to Spotty, the pastor began to exercise more, traveling to different parts of Hong Kong and Kowloon, making many dog friends and meeting their enthusiastic and friendly owners on the streets. Spotty broadened the pastor's understanding of animals and expanded her social circle. In addition to gaining a home and a happier life, Spotty became very popular as she met more friends with the pastor, winning the hearts of many and helping even more people.
Spotty transformed from a pitiful stray dog scavenging in a garbage dump to a well-loved therapy dog that helps people. With a loving owner taking her out every day to meet new friends and assist the vulnerable, Spotty's story can inspire those who dislike themselves, feel disheartened, or are spiritually lost.
Vote for me:
Although my body is dark, I have bright eyes and a unique coat with a mix of white and black spots, making me stand out! Often, humans only see our weaknesses as animals and feel sorry for us. I want to tell everyone that whether we are humans or animals, as long as we believe in the uniqueness of each individual and know that someone accepts us, there's no need to be disheartened or discouraged.
Stephanie's Diary of Redeeming Gut - The Story of Stephanie's Devotion to Stray Dogs
Stephanie and her friends discovered some stray dogs at a construction site, including a dog named Gut, who was very obedient and well-behaved due to her past experiences as a stray. One night, when Stephanie learned that Gut had a uterine mass, she quickly contacted various animal protection organizations to find a way to rescue her. Despite facing rejections, she never gave up and eventually succeeded in saving Gut.
However, Gut's condition was more severe than Stephanie had anticipated. She suffered from multiple diseases, including tick fever, a prolapsed uterus, and digestive system issues, requiring multiple surgeries and long-term observation and treatment. Feeling powerless, Stephanie questioned why she hadn't worked harder to earn more money to afford the expenses. Knowing that it would be a lengthy and costly process, she still decided to take on the responsibility because she loved Gut and was willing to do everything for her. Stephanie paid 50,000 dollars for the surgery and took Gut home.
Stephanie named the stray dog Gut because the Chinese character for "jie" represents luck, hoping that Gut would have a smooth and successful future. Although she hadn't yet decided whether to become Gut's owner, she wanted Gut to have a good life. Eventually, Gut recovered, but no one was willing to adopt her. Stephanie found a farm owner who was willing to take care of Gut, and Gut became a good companion for the workers, quickly adapting to her new life.
At the time, Stephanie was already fostering four stray puppies, but she couldn't bear to entrust their care to someone else. In the end, she decided to take on the responsibility herself. Including Gut, Stephanie adopted a total of five stray dogs. Stephanie underestimated the cost of caring for them, discovering that dog milk powder was both expensive and hard to find. The two puppies consumed a box of milk powder in about three days, costing around 400 dollars, with weekly food expenses nearing 1,000 dollars. To cover the costs, Stephanie sought help from her friends and thanked them for their support, ensuring the dogs received proper care and upbringing.
After solving the feeding issue, Stephanie had to address the housing situation. Living with her family, she needed their approval to keep the additional dogs. As expected, her family disagreed, and she quickly found a place and moved out. Thus, Stephanie, her five dogs, and another person officially began their life together as a family of seven.
As Stephanie shared her story, she recalled the puppies' early days, her face beaming with happiness. Although the puppies had destroyed three sofas within a year, she often said they were still incredibly adorable. Now they all slept peacefully on the sofa, a picture of bliss and contentment.
Vote for me:
If you see a stray dog, would you be willing to step forward, regardless of the cost, take them to a veterinary clinic, and give them a home? Stephanie is not a volunteer, just a pet owner, an ordinary person, but she has gone above and beyond to settle the stray dogs she encountered, not considering the cost. Due to story length limitations, not all details can be covered, but she not only saved one dog but also rescued two puppies and even educated construction site workers and parking lot attendants on how to interact with dogs in an equal and correct manner.

The Appearance of Dandan: Some Lives Come to Heal You
In a small corner of Ngong Tau Kok Village, a little stray dog named Dandan found a new family and hope.
Dandan's destiny changed in April 2022, when a volunteer rescued her mother and discovered that she had four puppies, including Dandan. For her new owner, Dandan's appearance healed her mild depression.
In the past few years, her new owner has experienced some difficult times and unconsciously fell into an emotional black hole. Despite appearing cheerful in front of others, her heart has always sought comfort. It wasn't until she met Dandan that she realized she couldn't solve her problems alone and needed someone caring to help her.
At first, she resisted the company of a dog because of a childhood experience of being bitten by a dog that left a shadow on her heart. She also knew that the responsibility of raising a dog was significant, and how could she take care of Dandan and give her 100% love when she couldn't take care of herself? With the insistence and persuasion of friends, she finally decided to accept this challenge.
Fate brought her to Dandan's side. After seeing Dandan's photo, she decided to contact the temporary volunteer. Unexpectedly, this volunteer turned out to be her former colleague ten years ago, making her feel a strong sense of fate. When they met for the first time, Dandan, who was only three months old, immediately melted her heart.
As someone who had never raised a dog, she was very lucky. Dandan's adaptability was very strong, and she behaved very obediently at home. She never destroyed any furniture, nor did she bark randomly. Her learning ability was also very strong. Before adopting Dandan, she did psychological preparation, imagining various bad situations, but none of them happened in the end. She felt very grateful and lucky, and Dandan was a gift from heaven. Besides her, Dandan was luckier than other strays. Shortly after birth, Dandan was rescued, was healthy, and has always lived in an environment full of love. Dandan's arrival made her life more fulfilling, with no more time for wandering thoughts, and her soul was also healed. Dandan became her therapist, helping her to rediscover this world and becoming someone who listens unconditionally.
Regarding her and Dandan's story, it can be said that they were quite lucky and did not experience too much difficulty and hardship. At first, she thought she was just raising a pet, but later she found that Dandan had become an indispensable member of her family. Dandan made her experience simple and sincere love.
In these days of mutual companionship, she took care of Dandan physically, and Dandan redeemed her spiritually. She thanked Dandan for starting to love her even before she knew the world.
Vote for me:
Dandan: "I hope that in the future, society can achieve coexistence between humans and pets, respect animals because there are always some lives that come to heal you."

From Fear to Trust: Single Loop and Her New Family
Single Loop's mother is a village cat that lives in a remote area. She gave birth to three kittens, including Single Loop. Living in the suburbs with lots of mosquitoes and bugs and with no regular meals, Single Loop and her sibling, a calico cat, were brought into the house. It took several hours to finally get Single Loop into the travel carrier, but during the journey back home, she was so uneasy that she repeatedly hit her head against the carrier's sides. After successfully transferring her to a large cage at home, the travel carrier was left with traces of blood.
At that time, Single Loop was very thin, had no flesh, and was covered in fleas. After being treated with flea medicine, the fleas were all over the place. For the first two weeks, Single Loop had to stay in the cage to adapt to the new environment. Her calico sibling, who had entered the house a week earlier, kept her company outside the cage. The reunion of the two sisters made it easier for Single Loop to adapt to the new environment. After two weeks, Single Loop finally came out of the cage, but she still only stayed in a hidden place under the cabinet. It is unclear what happened to her outside that made Single Loop extremely fearful of people. Even when she was no longer trapped in the cage, it was still difficult to see her. To lure her out, many cat toys were prepared, and every day someone would play with the toys alone in the room with Single Loop. If Single Loop was in a good mood, she would show up after 30 minutes. If not, it could take an hour or more for her to appear.
Fortunately, with the help of her calico sister who had already adapted to the new environment, Single Loop gradually became more trusting. After a few months, she began to let people touch her, sleep on the sofa, and started to meow at people. She began to integrate into the family's life. When a person crouches down to clean the litter box, Single Loop always likes to reach out from a high place and hit you on the head. This might be her way of expressing love. Every cat has a different personality and experience, but with love and patience, no matter how long it takes, they will become an important member of the family.
Vote for me:
"Whether it's a stray cat outside or a house cat inside, they all deserve love and care from their owners because every cat is unique. Each cat has a different personality and needs careful attention and patience from their owners. I hope all stray cats can find the most suitable family for themselves and live happily and healthily!"

Pain and Trust: Ching Ching's Struggle in the Human World
Ching Ching comes from a garbage dump in a village in Yuen Long, where the villagers don't have a good impression of cats and have hurt Ching Ching and her family members multiple times. At that time, Ching Ching had just given birth to her kittens and was searching for food door-to-door in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, she entered a villager's house and was chased away with boiling water, which severely injured her. Despite the pain, she still took care of her three newborn kittens. Perhaps this is the greatness of a mother's love – not abandoning her children even in the face of pain.
It took the volunteers more than half a year to win Ching Ching's trust, during which they visited the garbage dump every day to bring her food, play with her, eat together, and chat. Finally, on Valentine's Day, they gained her trust and brought her to the Cats in Hope shelter.
The volunteers named her "Ching Ching," symbolizing their hope that after experiencing countless hardships and rejections during her stray life, she could still bring joy and happiness to others and herself like the sunny sky. When Ching Ching first arrived at the shelter, she was very well-behaved and a little shy, allowing volunteers to pet her without getting angry. However, every time they saw the scars on her body from the burns, their hearts ached. Ching Ching suffered cruel abuse during her time as a stray, but she still bravely chose to trust humans – a truly precious trust!
Vote for me:
Meow~ I am Ching Ching, an ordinary black and white female cat. However, my life as a stray has left an indelible mark on me. I did nothing wrong, yet humans poured boiling water on me, causing severe burns to my skin. Although I have been abused by humans, the scalding water did not wash away my trust in them. I was rescued by the volunteers of Cats in Hope and started a new life. I always believe that pain is temporary, and there are many kind people in this city! I hope my story can raise more awareness for stray animals! May the sky of strays be forever sunny like my name! Please vote for me (^з^).

The Helping Hands of Volunteers: Three-Legged Dog Duo Duo's Journey to Overcoming Trauma
Duo Duo's story began when searching for the missing Ding Ding (a lost dog from Big Tree) and accidentally encountering her in a warehouse. When the volunteers saw Duo Duo's weak and emaciated body, her left forearm bleeding and her lower limb exposing bone and necrosis, their hearts ached with unbearable pain. Duo Duo must have endured the pain for a long time, and imagining her dark days brought tears to everyone's eyes. Despite her young age, Duo Duo showed understanding and obedience when the volunteers approached, without any struggle.
With the devoted care of the volunteers, Duo Duo was taken to the shelter and renamed "Duo Duo," implying abundance and preciousness, and that her difficult past was over, hoping she could live a blessed and long life. After undergoing emergency surgery, the doctor found that Duo Duo not only suffered from severe anemia and malnutrition but was also infested with a large number of lice. During the life-and-death surgery, Duo Duo experienced severe blood loss and needed multiple bags of plasma to sustain her life. In the end, the doctor had no choice but to amputate Duo Duo's limb to save her life. Fortunately, Duo Duo's wound was not invaded by flies; otherwise, the consequences would have been even more tragic.
Upon returning to the shelter after surgery, Duo Duo's first meal was the first time in her life she felt secure and warm while eating. Countless caring brothers and sisters encouraged her, filling her with courage on the road to recovery. Duo Duo's perseverance and struggle moved numerous people, and her story made us deeply understand the fragility and preciousness of life. Let us join hands and call for treating every life kindly, using love and care to influence the world.
Vote for me:
As a dog who has experienced trauma, I, Duo Duo, know the fragility and preciousness of life. When I needed help the most, it was the volunteers who reached out and gave me a new chance at life. I hope that my story can encourage more people to learn to treat any life kindly, allowing stray animals to feel warmth and care.
Charlotte
Candidate 3 – The Founder of Maison de Charlotte pour des Chats et des Chiens (MCCC) Animal Shelter
Charlotte’s Journey of Animal Rescue: From Giving Up High-Paying Job to Creating a Shelter for Furry Friends
Charlotte began her journey of rescuing furry friends in 1997. In her youth, she worked as a translator at the French Consulate, with a promising future ahead of her. However, for the sake of many helpless furry children, she decided to give up her high-paying job and establish a home that could shelter unadopted furry friends from the elements, allowing them to live happily, healthily, and fearlessly.
Charlotte firmly believes that life is priceless and more important than money, and that money should be used with value. She never makes hasty decisions to end a furry child's life and doesn't skimp on or delay medical expenses. When encountering injured or sick furry friends, she still insists on rescuing them and providing them with the most appropriate medical care. Charlotte once shared a story about having only 20 Hong Kong dollars left in her account after paying the medical bills for a furry friend, not even having enough money to take a bus home. "Influencing life with life" is a phrase Charlotte often uses, hoping to lead by example and spread messages about adoption, not abandonment, respect for life, and caring for animals to the public, thus creating a harmonious social environment for people and animals.
Vote for me:
Charlotte currently cares for about 300 furry friends, including elderly, sick, and abandoned animals. With a heart full of love for these creatures, she tirelessly devotes her time and energy to taking care of them day in and day out. The more love she gives, the more strength she has to rescue animals and change their fate.
Your vote can support Charlotte and become her strongest shield. Please cast your vote for Charlotte and let her know that she's not alone on this journey of animal rescue.
